The Saltbox Barn on Fir Island — Attraction in Fir Island

As a local wedding planner and coordinator, The Saltbox Barn is one of my FAVORITE venues to work with - and for so many reasons!

The venue itself is unlike anything you'll find in the area. The views, no matter which way you turn, are absolutely gorgeous (just wait until you see the sunsets!). The facilities - from the groom's room to the reception space to the backyard - have all maintained their natural elegance and rustic, historical character. You could leave the barn completely as-is and it would be plenty "decorated." The few additions they have made over the years have only enhanced the space and made it even more functional, inviting, and perfect for a wedding celebration.

If that's not enough, the owners, Katie & Brock, are some of the hardest working, most passionate venue owners I have ever done a wedding with. They do everything they can to ensure your day is how you envisioned it because they understand the importance of putting the couple first. They are on-site during the whole day, ready to help if needed. They are meticulous in their care for the grounds, ensuring everything is in pristine order prior to your arrival. Through all of this, they often become dear friends with those who book with them - and that's pretty special.

My husband and I just had our ceremony and reception at The Salt Box Barn. And honestly I’m at a loss for words. The venue owners Brock and Katie are the absolute most amazing people I have met. The whole process from Start to finish was so easy. Multiple tours, clear communication, with Covid the guild lines were laid out and so simple, they made sure all precautions and measures were taken. On the wedding day they were there from start to finishing helping set up the bar, setting up tables, assisting with anything that was needed and they brought in an amazing bartender! They also have space for catering food trucks! We hired Pompii Pizza, who were able to park on the grounds set up and cook on the spot! Amazing! My husband and I couldn’t have found a better spot to share our love and celebrate. The venue is so beautiful and well kept, they’re constantly working and updating the barn and grounds, its BEAUTIFUL. They truly take pride in ownership. They have a handful of decor pieces to share and use for your wedding day, signage, vases, drink coolers, furniture. It all came in handy and was one less thing to worry about having to buy. They have it all.

SaltBox Barn is a stunning venue that perfectly captures the charm of the Pacific Northwest. As a photographer, I love how its outdoor spaces are ideal for both ceremonies and dancing under the open sky. The surrounding floral gardens are breathtaking and provide so many unique and beautiful backdrops for portraits—everywhere you turn, there’s another spot to capture something special.

Inside the barn, the reception space benefits from ample natural light, which creates a bright and airy atmosphere. The neutral tones of the barn are another highlight, as they keep the photos true to life without casting unwanted colors. While the getting-ready spaces have more limited light, the outdoor and reception areas more than make up for it with their versatility and aesthetic appeal.

What truly stands out at SaltBox Barn are the thoughtful details and the balance between rustic elegance and natural beauty. It’s a venue that feels personal and inviting while offering so many opportunities for incredible photos.
