Our family loves Coggshall park! It is a beautiful park that I recommend to anyone looking for a fun place to bring their kids or for a nice relaxing hike/walk around the pond.
There is a big playground for the kiddos, several trails to walk around the pond, a beautiful stone building that you can rent for special occasions(my sister had her wedding there), a large stone gazebo that you can walk out to and sit down to enjoy the view, several benches/picnic tables throughout the park, and of course there are the ducks and geese that the kiddos love.
They are open until sunset(or 5/5:30p).
FYI- many people go there specifically to feed the geese/ducks but it is actually prohibited 🚫 and for good reason. All of the bread and human food that they are being fed can actually kill them(and has). Their digestive systems were not built to process that kind(or amount) of food. They are still super fun to watch and observe. But no one will be able to have that luxury if they all die off!!! It’s super tempting but please follow the rules posted and don’t...
Read moreMy favorite park in Massachusetts. It's a shining gem of Fitchburg. Cute small lake with a walkable trail around it. Had va fun gazebo on the water which is iconic. A cool small outside amphitheater too. Had plenty of wooded areas and trails to explore as well. Fun cool rocky area that fun to explore and climb on with a cool rock table. Been enjoying this park since I was a kid. You can drive in had plenty of parking but can be super packed and busy didn't the summer. Also a nice leave to just go and sit on a bench and enjoy the foliage in the fall. During summer an ice cream truck frequents the park such is nice for kids. Highly recommend a visit especially if you...
Read moreGreat little park. Some easy quick trails and some others a little longer too. Not typically crowded outside of the main parking area either which is nice.
Minus one star for limited hours - it only opens at 9AM and closes as early as 3:45PM during winter, 5:45PM for spring and fall, and 7:45PM during (most) of summer. They shut half the entry gate an hour before close to discourage people from entering too, despite the main loop around the pond taking just 15-20 minutes to finish. And sometimes the park has been closed during normal hours without explanation...
