Crocker Conservation Area — Attraction in Fitchburg

One of my favorite places to hike. I take my dogs and walk from Flat Rock Wildlife refuge, to Crocker Pond, or visa versa. It's pretty easy to get lost, and I have gotten lost a few times. But they put a couple maps on trees fairly recently, so I was able to find my way out. Not sure why they're calling maple trees and white pine "invasive species" and cutting them down at the top of Flat Rock. Seems more like a scheme to sell wood. One of my favorite spots in my hometown. I've been hiking thru these woods for 3 decades, and I am always happy when I'm there. A truly hidden gem. I hope the public continues to keep this Sanctuary clean and safe. Some of the trails have deteriorated over the years due to weather, so I would not recommend most of the area for beginners or anyone who has trouble with rough terrain.
