When I moved to Leominster 5 yrs. ago, I LOVED the Salvation Army for the first couple of years. There was an entire long rack with nothing but fleece outerwear, and another long rack with sporty vests. But best of all was the housewares section. Shelves were PACKED with matching sets of dishes & bowls, glasses, wine glasses, dessert bowls, etc. and all kinds of interesting and cool stuff in home decor. They always had 30-40 flower vases, lamps, and a variety of items too numerous to list. In the past couple of years, there's been a drastic drop in both the quality and quantity of items. Most shocking (and depressing) is the housewares section with lots of shelf space completely bare with an occasional plastic cup or old beat-up pan or other items of complete junk taking up space, and all those matching sets of dishes, etc. - everything is GONE. I've been told that their "new" system routes all Leominster donations to Worcester first, where they're apparently taking anything and everything for their store and shipping all the left over garbage back to Leominster. Do you think the greedy, selfish folks in Worcester could divide things up a little more equally and fairly?? Because they've turned the Leominster SA into a complete shthole. If you're looking for nice, used clothing and shoes, I recommend Upscale ConsignMINT at Twin City/Hannaford Plaza, less than a half mile from SA. They also have sets of glasses & dishes dispersed throughout the store, and a small area for NICE kitchen and home goods. And if you're looking for a huge and great selection of kitchen housewares, furniture, and other home goods, I recommend Cutiques 12 Manning Ave in downtown Leominster. It's a fun second-hand store, and...
Read moreCame here to see if they had any men’s belts. It is an enormous store but almost entirely women’s clothes. Only about 20 belts, all women’s, and all beat to hell in terrible condition. Very small amount of men’s clothes (comparatively) and, again, the quality and condition is poor and priced too high. Furniture and electronics here is bottom of the barrel too.
If you’re here for deals, you can probably find cheaper, better quality clothes in new condition from Walmart.
If you’re here for unique or vintage scores, you’ll be hugely...
Read moreLots to offer - you just have to commit to looking. Loads of jeans, which I like a lot, but many other things, too. I agree, Wednesday is the best day to go -check out all the discounts. Depending on the time of year, sometimes they carry a lot of great furniture - before and after the holidays. The volunteers work long and hard, and should get an extra pat on the back these days. With all the terrorists and economic difficulties, congratulations on your good...
