Metcalf Pond — Attraction in Fletcher

Metcalf Pond is a beautiful little, clear pond tucked into high hills that is about 15 minute paddle out and back to the other end. Given the limited boat access, it is very nice for leisurely tubing/floating, kayaking and canoeing where you want no waves, as few large boats have access. It is dotted by small, old-school camps mostly. Small public put-in at South end is helpful for car-top boats, and big parking area for your vehicle once you unload. No beach to sit on really. Metcalf Pond is a beautiful place. However, currently, there is some controversy in the town of Fletcher about the use of the very small 'beach' area as a motor boat launch. State of VT indicates that only cartop 'boats' are permitted here, but then say that that is only a 'suggestion.'
