A nice Stop along the parkway that looks south across the valley This is one of the many pullouts along the Blue Ridge Parkway. The Blueridge parkway is a 469-mile road that travels through the Great smoky mountains. It was designed to connect Shenandoah National Park and Great Smoky Mountains National Park during President Roosevelt’s era in 1935. The Wash Creek Valley Overlook is between 2 tunnels (Ferrin Knob tunnel 1 and 2) and is an easy pull-off on the south side of the road. If you go on a weekday, the road is basically empty and you can safely photograph the tunnel from the road as long as you're extra vigilant and mindful of occasional cars approaching.
