Worth the 8-hour drive from Vancouver, BC Canada!

I can't rave enough about the friendly staff at Sand Master Park. They were accommodating from beginning to end and they're passionate about the sport.

Loan's quick responses and follow ups via email made it easy for us to communicate and reserve our Sand Blast Special (highly recommended) before we drove to Oregon from Canada. Despite some scheduling challenges due to dune buggy repairs and a fully booked lessons during the weekend, Loan was able to accommodate us and offer alternatives if they weren't able to fulfill everything promised in the special.

Gabriel was our dune buggy tour guide and that role title doesn't give the experience justice. He tore up the sand dunes with his killer driving skills and always made sure we were having fun. He was also the one who fixed the dune buggy in time for our arrival!

Logan was our sandboarding instructor and he was really knowledgeable. He watched us closely and provided suggestions on how we could improve on our next run. He was also funny, patient and encouraging. We fell numerous times but he cheered us on and cheered even louder when we had a successful run.

We were so caught up in the fun that we forgot to get t-shirts that were included in the Sand Blast Special. By the time we realized, we were already driving back to Canada. I emailed Loan and, without hesistation, he shipped the t-shirts to my P.O. box.

I would highly recommend going to Sand Master Park.

Tips for first timers: Bring ear plugs to keep the sand out of your ears during the dune buggy tour (Trust me, you'll have sand everywhere and I mean everywhere) Wear sunglasses Wear socks during sandboarding Cover your face during the dune buggy tour and don't open your mouth, not even to scream "woohoo" (You'll regret it when you eat sand) Carry water! It'll get tiring climbing up the sand dunes after a run Take your sandboard to other sand parks to try longer runs (rentals are valid for 24 hours) Go out...

I’m Coach Kyndal Ray Edwards aka A Walking Testimony, Walking America for Mental Health Awareness and Recovery! Over 4,000 miles and 14 states completed and coast to coast walked so far since January 1st 2022 and last week was the first time I ever heard about sand boarding! I’m currently in Oregon on Highway 101 heading south down the coast and found myself in Florence, Oregon, where I saw that they had sand boarding and I put a post on my social media page and the owner reached out and blessed me with a lesson and said he liked my Journey! Thank you so much Lon, for reaching out with an awesome opportunity! Thank you so much to Caleb, the sandboard instructor, who took me out for a little while and showed me the ropes! I had an absolute blast point and falling didn’t hurt that bad, so it made it better to be more confident on the board! Super blessed with a really really cool opportunity on my journey walking America for mental health, awareness and recovery! I just wanna let all of you know that You Matter and We Do Recover!!!

Follow me on YouTube at A_Walking_Testimony and Facebook at A Walking Testimony!

We were only in town for a couple days and the weather was pretty wet, but we wanted to do something fun and special to the area while we exploring Florence. Our three girls (12, 12 and 14) are decent skate boarders, but have never sand boarded or snow boarded (most similar activity we could see to sand boarding). Dr Dune set us up with wet boards due to the weather and gave great tips on how to control the boards.

The rentals were $16 each for 24 hours which is a great bargain. We like to look what something would cost compared to a movie for the whole family. It would be easy to share boards between family members, especially with the 24 hour rental period. The dunes owned by the company, directly behind the Fred Meyer just up the road, were a perfect place for the girls to learn the skill. In a matter of an hour they were eager to head to Honeyman State Park for some bigger dunes.

It was so fun and a perfect use of our last afternoon in town. Dr Dune was incredibly helpful and friendly with some great stories of his own sand boarding adventures. He loves the sport and it shows. We wouldn’t hesitate to visit again the next time we...

Accept no imitations. This was the coolest thing we did on our trip up the Oregon Coast! We reserved a reservation well in advance which I would recommend. We also paid extra for lessons (and a T-Shirt!) which I would recommend. A young man named Caleb was our instructor and he was great. Not only was he personable and easy to talk to for the hour and a half of our lesson, but he was very good at explaining how to ride and improve your technique. Sand Master seems to own about 4 acres of dunes behind their shop which is all we needed to spend a few hours sand boarding. I will say that walking up these massive dunes after each run is hard work. My calves were definitely feeling it the next day. I cannot recommend this place enough. This has got to be one of the most unique things you can do in this part of the country. You can also take these boards out for 24 hours if you want. It seems like there are many other places to sandboard up and down the coast, but three hours at this park was plenty for us!

This place has a deep spot in my heart. Sand master park is the most core shop I have ever visited. Generosity, knowledge, accommodation, and guidance are key values of this beloved culture center. Visiting this place with your family or buddy’s will leave an impact on your life 100%. You will never forget your experience at the Oregon dunes! Take your time and pick the brains of the staff. A wealth of knowledge and amazing opportunity’s await you for sand boarding. They know the best spots to shred! Weather your a beginner or your looking for a photo shoot for a magazine centerfold, these dudes are the experts hands down.
