What a terrible experience!
I signed up for the PDP program roughly 7 weeks ago to take advantage of using the driving range and putting green. It’s roughly $70 a month which seemed like an acceptable price point to hit unlimited* balls but never again will I give this place my money.
First, no one ever notified me that the range is closed on Monday evenings. Literally my first day going to use it and I’m told it was closed by a lady inside the bar. Okay, lesson learned.
I typically get there around 6:15pm after work and sometimes they are open and sometimes they are not. I was out of luck a few times until one of the employees finally let me know that I could purchase a key to the machine so I don’t have to stop in to get tokens to use the range. No problem. I bought the key and thought my problems would be gone until the machine stopped working the very next week! Here we go again! I then went into the shop and asked as to when it would be fixed and the guy made a joke saying “never” and proceeded to hand me tokens. OKAY? This isn’t going to work for me if you’re closed at 6:00PM.
A few weeks go by and I was notified (after inquiring of course) that they issued me a new key or fixed the machine. Nonetheless, my key would be at the bar waiting for me in case the pro shop was closed. A few days go by and at this point I’m going to call and confirm my key is where they told me it was before I make another 15 minute drive for nothing. Let me first start by saying, SUE SHOULD NEVER EVER EVER SPEAK TO CUSTOMERS ON THE PHONE AGAIN! RUDE is an understatement. She basically accused me of lying saying it’s highly doubtful someone called and said my key was behind the bar. Meanwhile, I have the voicemail from an employee telling me this a few days prior. She then proceeds to say “I don’t have time for this, I have a league going out. You need to call back later.” Okay…. I’m just giving you $70 a month and potentially $840/year? Don’t pick up the phone if you can’t service your customer or respectfully ask that they hold, how hard is that? I went in to get my key and was going to cancel on the spot but really didn’t want to speak with her so figured I’d wait to make any decisions.
Today was the last straw. I get to the range around 6:15PM and it’s closed AGAIN! This time it’s going to be closed for a week. No email. No phone call. No sorry for the inconvenience. Nothing. I cancelled on the spot and won’t be going back to Bardmoor...
Read moreThe only thing going for this place is the PDP, and yet everybody is extremely rude and in a bad mood about it at the course. In its current state nobody would have jobs if it wasn’t for the PDP because this course is 100% not worth a dollar over $50 for a round !! (PDP players pay $16 after 2 pm). The guys at the front desk are some of the most miserable bad attitude people you will ever meet. Not a day goes by without them being moody with you no matter how kind or patient you are to them !
We have an epidemic of victimhood in this day and age, this is a free country you don’t want to work in an AC room at a golf course where all you gotta do is say hello swipe a card answer a few of the same questions about the course every day, THEN DO SOMETHING ELSE !!!!!
I can count on one hand the people here who are kind and will smile when you walk by them. One of the gentleman that runs the range, a girl at the front, a bar tender, a cart girl. That’s it.
90% of the time the bad attitudes can be ignored because mostly it’s about getting on the course but every day in and day out something needs to be said.
Majority of the reviews the past year are horrible, because the course is poorly managed and that likely can be traced to the attitude of “I hate doing this anyways so why care”. Everybody has that attitude and it shows greatly. To the starter keeping pace, to the groundskeeper maintaining a green.
I hate complaining about other people’s work and can understand the frustration of having heavy foot traffic because of the PDP and not enough hands to manage the work but my goodness.
If PDP was this courses owners last ditch effort to maintain relevancy it also is becoming the nail in the coffin of the course changing hands or becoming an apartment complex if something doesn’t change quickly. Even at the PDP rates this becomes an undesirable spot. I will be cancelling at the end of this month. I can’t imagine I’ll be the...
Read moreBardmoor Golf Club is one of the more challenging courses in the Clearwater area. It's the one course that has plush fairways and very superior greens. Playing from the black tees makes you utilize most clubs in your bag - trying to get as close to 7000 yards as possible. Lots of beautiful holes, scenery, challenging bunkers and water, and great approach shots. Must keep ball in play (off the tee) to give yourself a chance to score. Even hitting from blacks (tips), I found myself using fairway woods off tee to make sure I landed my drives in the fairway. And that helped my overall game. If you are in the fairway, you can score. A few errant shots penalized me, raising my score above my handicap average. Greens hold exceptional well and are about as fast as they need to be to be fair. Before putting, though, make sure you know the breaks. Be careful and know your abilities before taking on this course. The staff is friendly, helpful, courteous, and pleasant. I would add Bardmoor to my list of must play courses in this area. This course makes use of your own knowledge of your game. Water, sand, fast greens, beautiful scenery plus great staff makes this a true golf track. Definitely add it to your tour of courses in this area. Kudos to Bardmoor for a great golf experience. I definitely will be back. BTW: I played with a group who used the white and senior tees and you definitely get a different game by lessoning the yardage. You can definitely keep hazards out of play by playing white tees. That said, it's a course for all skill levels. Very, very nice course! And you don't have to drive 45 miles to find a course as nice...
