I gave this such a high rating because it was everything we had hoped for . Everything we were looking for. Not a place to swim , but an excellent place to surf fish and walk the beach. The sand is deep but so very soft, I took my metal detector for the first time, I didn’t find anything but my friend did going prior. My most memorable and most exciting part was seeing all the sea turtles. There were a lot of them, I tried to get pictures. But you will to zoom in to see them. I loved the boardwalk going down to the beach, it was stable , no stairs( big plus when you have a fishing wagon) and easy to navigate. A major plus for me - no bugs , unlike just down the road at Sebastian Inlet where I literally got tore up. Eaten alive is a better analogy. We didn’t catch anything but went down the road to the state park in the left and had luck there. It was beautiful. Didn’t want to leave. Didn’t feel like I got to be there long enough . Did pack lunches and drinks. Which was nice, because we could eat on the beach and not worry about having to find something, the only strange thing was we were coming early morning and there were speed check machines on the side of the road which took your picture(we weren’t even speeding) and the flash was so bright I felt blinded for at least 3 seconds. It was very uncomfortable and unnecessary, especially if you’re not speeding- why snap your picture? Everyone we encountered was kind and gracious. And watching the sea turtles frolic in the ocean was the best scenery ever. I’ve lived here my whole life and never seen sea turtles like that in there natural environment. Having fun, checking us out on the beach. And that was...
Read moreIn today's search for the Milky Way, unfortunately, daylight savings time put me an hour behind. I set my alarm clock for 2:30am, the same time the change took place. Well, that put me an hour behind. When I got to my location, an officer pulled up and told me I couldn't park there from dusk till dawn. So, down the road I went, until I found a location on the beach, where although the same rules were posted, there were people fishing so I figured if it was good for them, it was good for me.
Back to the photo.
I started taking photos with my Canon camera but couldn't tell if I was capturing the Milky Way or not. So I shot some photos with my f1.8 50mm, then my 3.5 18-55mm lens. I figured I would be able to see better once I got home while processing them. Well, I didn't see the Milky Way in any of those photos but did capture it with my Samsung S20 Ultra. Settings are f1.8, 10s, 7mm, ISO1600. I did some post processing, and here it is. Still need to get better at processing, but before that, I need to get better using my DSLR.
This was called out as a Bortle 4 location, but there was a significant amount of...
Read moreA tiny little beach area that’s off the beaten path. This is NOT a swimming beach as is full of sharks, jellyfish, quick drop down, and no life guards. In fact someone caught a 7 foot shark while I was there from shore! Took two large men to get it unhooked and back to the ocean safely. Great to go just sit in quiet though, and if you are there to check out the sanctuary building next door, or wonderful for fishing and seeing wildlife. My only true complaint really would be getting into the parking lot there was a giant water hole taking up the entire entrance. If your in a car that could...
