The causeway parks are a great place to catch the sun rise/set over the water. People fish, picnic, windsurfing, even throw frisbees. Restrooms here are also usually clean. If you let your pets or SA/ESA's out of the vehicle, be sure to hang on tightly. The road is right there. (Same for small children!) Stopping here gives us one last moment to reflect on our time on Sanibel and to prepare ourselves for the long trip home. I always enjoy stopping in the causeway parks to get some good pix of the water, boating or windsurfing, sunsets, and the HOPE of finding some intact shells. The causeway shorelines are full of large broken shells. Maybe I should be finding the "good" in all of those pieces and start collecting the fragments. Stopping here gives us one last moment to reflect on our time on Sanibel and to prepare ourselves for the long trip home. How about you? Have you stopped here?

What a great find! After a great Thanksgiving meal at the Lighthouse we drove to Sanibel Island and found this gem!!! Turned the truck around parked at the beach and opened up the bed of the truck to get our emergency beach bag and chairs/umbrella out!! Haha Beats having cat litter and snow chains!! We are originally from Minnesota, we will be returning again and again with our little pug who's gonna love it! Fyi very few Porta pottys, so be mindful when you park to park near one if not be prepared with a bucket! lol We saw a manatee swimming few feet away from me, dolphins swimming out in the open, clams up and down the beach, not to mention the soft white sand! What a great man made set of islands! Found our spot!!

Great place to enjoy the Gulf or bay side. You can pull your vehicle up to the shore line and enjoy your water, BBQ'ing, or whatever activities... and it's a cool way to get some pictures of your ride that make it look like it's on the beach, since you can't actually put your vehicle on the beach. Can get a bit crowded in season. Unfortunately they just cut down a bunch of beautiful tree's because they may have become unstable with erosion. $6 toll to get through the Sanibel Causeway toll plaza.

It's currently a construction area due to the ongoing rebuilding efforts after the hurricane, the memories of its former beauty linger. The temporary inconvenience is outweighed by the anticipation of what's to come. The prior charm and scenic allure are etched in my mind, making it clear that, once completed, this place will recapture its former splendor. It may not be ideal now, but the promise of a revived and even more beautiful beach makes it worth keeping an eye on.

The Sanibel Causeway is one of my favorite, local beach destinations. You can pull your vehicle up to the water or very close (does not need to be 4wd). It is beautiful, especially the sunrise. You can fish, swim, sun bathe, and relax. Great picnic area! I had a beach picnic here with about 20 people and we fit comfortably...even had cornhole and horseshoes setup. Insider tip: if you want a grill during season get there before 8am. Dog friendly ❤

Great stop to hang out, Fish , chicken down , or just plain take in the sites. Always stop by this hidden gem on my way to Captiva Island. Clear and smooth shorelines, clean with plenty of parking. Just be wary of any pot holes or dig outs in the sand parking lot. I've had some great fishing memories here, and look forward to visiting again when headed back over to the islands ! Best !
