We stayed at a house near this access point for a week. The actual beach is gorgeous. White sand and clear(ish) water. There are bathrooms at this access, a lifeguard, and the area is kept clean. A couple of the days we were there it was green flag and the water was very calm and nice for everyone to get in and play. The reason for the 3/5 stars is that during the day, at least during the summer, it is PACKED. Rows of tents and umbrellas set up so densely is can be hard to walk through. There are “private” beaches on either side with signs that you can’t cross when setting up your chairs/tent. Tents are only allowed along the back row of the beach so you can’t sit under your tent and watch the kids closer to the water. The parking is also very limited during the day. One of the days we went down around 9:30a to set up our tent and there was literally no parking and no space on the beach to set it up. We were only on the beach M-F, so I imagine the weekends are even worse. If you go early mornings and evenings, it is not as crowded. I personally won’t rent a house near this access point again and would recommend finding a larger public access point or stay at a place that has private access in the area. It just isn’t worth the hassle and dealing with the crowds. The video is from a rainy, red and purple flag day when it was not as crowded. I didn’t get one on the super busy days but there were at least twice as many people packed in to the...
Read moreThis is for the "new" public beach access that opened in December of 2019 across form Stinky's Fish Camp. It is smaller than the one just a little further east, but it has nice views due to being a few feet higher than the beach. There are stairs that go down for rapid access, but also a nice switchback ramp to give access if you have mobility needs. There was a lifeguard on duty until 6:00pm. There was enough room for adequate social distancing. There were warning signs up at the eastern edge informing that patrons were to stay off the private beach area owned by The Dunes condo complex. We also noticed chair and umbrella rentals were available, though not many were actually occupied. The bathroom facility in the center of the parking lot feels modern and new. There are fresh water showers with tall and calf high heads plus a short hose spicket to rinse off the sand and salt water near...
Read moreStayed at a nearby rental for a week in May. While the beach is beautiful, similar to other 30A beaches, it is very crowded because you can only set up your chairs, etc. within designated space alongside the lifeguard tower. The areas further left and right are restricted to guests of adjacent apartment/townhouse buildings. There is a person stationed there to enforce you don't venture onto the "private" areas. The property's chairs set up for those guests were often vacant. You can't sit behind them like other...
