Walked about 6 miles total. We entered through the gate on Mcarthur rd. Campground is spacious. There was one r.v. and looked like 6 horse trailers camping. Did about 4 miles through the trails and oak hammocks to the south of the campground even off the trails it's still easy to make your way. Went back to the truck to eat then walked north on trail that borders the fence line. The open field is pretty over grown and when I talked with one of the equestrian riders she said that most of the horse trails on that side were over grown. Made our way down the tree line into the hammocks and to the kissimmee public use area. This is an area that's open to hunting certain weekends so you may come across hunters. There is also a game cleaning station though not sure how much longer the hoist will last the wood is almost rotted through. Also looks like a water tank at the clean station that is gravity fed and has to be filled before use though not sure who is responsible for that. I did not use the bathrooms or the shower while I was there as it was a scouting trip but even with the wind blowing them in our direction I didn't smell anything besides the country fresh scent from the...
Read moreWeren't there specifically to see the devil's tree. Yes you heard that correctly. I like to find haunted scary places. This wasn't so scary. Absolutely beautiful though. The trails are marvelous and it's so cool. Walking through a canopy of trees and foliage couldn't find it on the regular trail, but if you are looking for it when you park in the parking lot, you're going to face the restrooms. You're going to see a little walkway to the right along the canal followed from the cement to the little sand walkway. About two blocks give or take on the left hand side. You're going to see a large opening go through there. I would say maybe 50 yd down on the left. You can't miss this tree. It is fabulous. It's limb stretch out so far. It is one of the most beautiful trees you could see with the Spanish moss hanging from it. If that's what you're looking for. It's going to be an easy find if you follow these directions. Enjoy the trails. They have a park for the young children behind the restrooms. Get out, get some air even if it's just for an hour or so and take a friend or even your furry...
Read moreI love this park and I still give it five stars but I will say that I'm not impressed with the upkeep at the equestrian center lately. The wash rack is being overtaken with debris, the remaining hose is barely holding together and someone decided that rather than clean the water trough it would be a good idea to keep it clean with goldfish... It isn't clean My next trip out I will replace their broken hoses with some new ones...
