Ive loved this island over a decade. I go out constantly to clean it, add sand, put firepits, put a kayak/small boat dock. Thats all done. Im done trying to save it or make it better. People go out there and destroy it, leave massive amounts of trash, smash glass bottles, tear up the mangrooves to burn because they didnt bring firewood which is a major fine if they are caught. The dock I built was torn apart and burnt. One of the firepits someone put mortars in and blew up, they also blew more of the cliff on the leftside of which is speeding up the erosion. The other two islands are almost gone from erosion and this is the last one of size. I go out and clean it then twice as much trash is there when I go back out. Its heartbreaking that people are such complete trash. We wont be able to have these things for the next generation because self centered people dont appreciate the things we have. It got worst when durimg covid a lot of people from Orlando discovered this area. Now the space program is back up and popular a lot of other people have discovered it as well. Its not to say we dont have garbage locals causing this as well but years ago when it wasnt as busy around here it definetly was not as bad. That garbage ends up in the lagoon when a good storm comes in. Its not hard to see these islands as a microcasm of the entire planet. This is why we cant have nice things. This is why govts have to come in and put restrictions. This small piece of paradise is turning into what everything trash people touch, a dump. Sorry to...

Awesome place to visit. Beautiful views. Great for kayaking, paddle boarding and canoeing. However, if you're camping and looking for a quiet place, this isn't it. Far too many people visiting on the weekends to enjoy. Loud jet skis all day; dawn to dusk. Lots of boat traffic since its close to a public ramp. Convenient but very busy. Also, on my trip I heard drifters and loud trucks doing burnouts on the East side of the bridge late into the night. Large Kayak tours in the evening for bio luminescence. Which was fine. But lots of people scouring the island. Once last thing, trash, trash, trash. People, please, please take your trash with you. And if you see trash, pick it up, take it with you if you have the means. Its not someone else's problem, its your...

We camped on the island the weekend before the 4th of July. Had a blast. Played in the bioluminescent water. And a couple got married on the sand bar at 11pm. Beautiful island . Fishing not so good but the kids had a great time.

You can paddle out here from parish Park, boat, ramp, or Sandpoint Park. It’s a big lovely island with a bit of a sandbar poking out that you can walk out on. Found this island and I will definitely come back.
