This is one of those places I've passed a million times on the way to other parks and made a note to check out but never did until now. And wow, am I glad I finally did. Moses Creek is an amazing area for wildlife, birds, flora, hiking and mountain biking. First off, the area is HUGE. It's not just some tiny area between housing communities but rather a large enough area to have two different trail heads. The topography area covers a variety of systems including pine scrub, oak hammock and salt marsh. The trails are all very well marked and very well maintained. Even in areas where water tends to gather, they've managed to erect footbridges for crossing. It's just such a well thought out area that they even include picnic tables in all the best scenic spots. What's also great about this area is the fact that you can choose to stick to the hiking trails, the bike trails or mix it up and do a combo of both. On this hike that's exactly what I did, I did a bit of both the bike trails and hiking trails and I had a blast. The bike trails have all sorts of fun things to ride (or walk) over, through or in with most topping out at 2 diamonds. The bike trails wander around the more wooded sections of the area in twisty and windy ways. It's got to be as much fun on a bike as it was to hike! Oddly, the bike trails are NOT on the PDF of the trails you can download for the SJWM site, so I was surprised they were there. They tend to break at major spur trails so you can jump out of the woods and hop on to the hiking trails of the area. The hiking trails are wide two track paths that are easy to follow and walk along. This is where you can make up some distance and get out into some of the wide open spaces here. I thought doing to combination was a great exposure to the park and gave me a taste of everything on offer trailwise. Perhaps the biggest highlight and it's best kept secret are the views. WOW. There are some simply spectacular views of Moses Creek here. I hit three separate views that left me in awe of the majesty and magic of the area. These views showed Florida at her untouched best and illustrated just how special areas like this truly are. It was all very zen and super quiet and they're the kind of views you have a hard time walking away from. I probably took 100 pictures of just the creek views. The Saint Johns Water Management District have a natural treasure with Moses Creek. They've done a FANTASTIC job of making this area a great day trip loaded with adventure. A Top 10 Hike in NE Florida...Don't just drive by this spot next time you're in the area...take a couple of hours and have a good...
Read moreI like this place... They have some cool wooden features, they have bypasses for newbie riders and the trails are well maintained with good signage. This is no tillie or Hannah or Mala Compra but then again, if u live in St. Augustine like me, no decent mtb trail is close... But if u r looking for a workout without the boredom of say a losco or nocatee... Then this trail is well worth the visit...
Update: been riding this trail for a long time now and I will say it's grown on me... It's always well maintained, it's great for all skill levels.. You can really practice on your cornering and speeds. The trail builders have added some additional features to keep it interesting. It's a good ride if you are in the area and looking for some...
Read moreLots of different trails in Moses Creek. Here you can find all three hiking, bicycle and horseback riding trails. I walked the main trail for a while then walked the section 3 and section 4 bicycle trails which brought me out to some beautiful views. Overall I walked about 5 mi. The trails are in excellent condition. Nothing is washed out. I visited Moses Creek on a Monday and there were about 10 to 12 cars in the parking lot with available parking. I would figure on the weekends the parking lot would be pretty filled. You do cross many people on the main trail, however, the bike trails are pretty quiet...
