Had a nice time at the park. The kids played on the jungle gyms and played with the other kids tag ect. We had a nice little family picnic. The park itself has a smaller jungle gym for the youngers and bigger one for the older kiddos. Multiple slides, mulch ground, monkey bars. Not as spiffy as it was back when I was a kid (the all wood mountain of a jungle gym maze of sorts). There's lots of nature nearby to explore which is always fun. Then there is a pavilion for parties or if you'd rather have your lunch in there than by the parkside. There is also a track that has little obstacles or challenges at different points around it. There is also a nature trail that the kids LOVE, and a nature center where you can go inside and cool down while learning more about the natural world around us. All in all rotary park is a safe, fun, easily accessible no matter your disability and a great place for the...
Read moreWe’ve lived beside Rotary park for 24 years and for the last 15 years we’ve been fighting with Parks and Recreation to maintain their property. It started in 2004 when Parks and Recreation did some work in Rotary Park which resulted in storm water backing up on both my property and that of my neighbor on the other side of the park. The park rectified the situation for her immediately but it was a five-year battle to get them to maintain the swale on my side . They finally did do restoration of the swale. The other part of the problem has always been the vegetation growing onto our property. My mother had been cutting it back herself since we moved here, but it had gotten so bad she was no longer able to do that and again it was a battle to get them to keep it cut back. We are still fighting that battle. The situation has improved somewhat but we still have to contact them frequently regarding...
Read moreWe were visiting from the Orlando area and looking for a new hiking experience. Rotary Park came up on a Google search for "hiking." A previous reviewer described it as "pet friendly" so we brought our 9 lb. pup along. We were disappointed to discover only a very short boardwalk through the woods and no actual hiking trails. And there is apparently a sign near the entrance with the park rules stating no animals allowed. The print on the sign is so small, we would have had to stop the vehicle in the road, get out of the car, and walk up to the sign to read it. We were getting ready to leave when a park employee yelled across the parking lot, "no dogs allowed." Rotary Park looked like a good place for a picnic, but it wasn't what we were...
