Sandspur Beach was a lovely find! We visited at the end of May and the water was warm (warmest I've experienced in the USA, because I'm from Massachusetts) and inviting — plus it was pretty empty, which made it even better. There was plenty of parking available for a small fee.

The sand was soft and pleasant to walk on. The only minor issue was some seaweed near the shore, but that clears up once you go a little deeper into the water. Restrooms were available, though they closed about an hour before the park itself, so plan accordingly.

The surrounding area also offers beautiful views — perfect for snapping some peaceful nature photos. Overall, a calm,...

This beach is closed this year due to recovery of hurricane. The other beaches are nice but a little crowded but that shouldn’t stop you from enjoying the shallow waters with your kids. Facilities are well kept and easy to access even for wheelchairs. Some of the bad reviews might have been partly subjective. We had a great time my kids loved it. I would say to avoid maybe the weekends. We visited during the week and had no parking issues. We will return and hope that Sandspur beach is open next year. Not five stars because it wasn’t indicated on the website that this beach was closed. Other than that we had a...

Best Beach in the Florida Keys "Leave all your cares here, but take only your memories please." I grew up on this beach, it reopened mother's day weekend 2022 after 5 yrs of renovation post Irma. Nice New Camp Sites, New bathrooms and warm showers that work well. Lots of parking and less crowded, better side for snorkeling and kayaks and paddle boarding or beach walking. Only important improvement needs Handicap ramps with better railings than ropes that still needs improvement the elderly I take here swimming don't slip and fall they are too steep so be careful. Park Rangers here are so...

It's a 4 for Keys beaches because there are so few. It took 25 minutes to get in because it was busy. That wasn't too bad, but they could definitely do better. We found a good amount of parking, and great public bathrooms, too. The beach isn't much to look at, but it's long and great for walking and watching the sea birds and people. My only complaint on the beach is the dried seaweed everywhere. This is a state park, so they could run a raking dozer in the morning and take care of that. I wish they had. Also, don't expect any privacy. This is a busy park with a very popular beach.
