Oh my goodness!! I’m sure you’ve heard that expression, “a hidden gem!” Well, this Museum is definitely one of those! Visiting family this weekend, we decided to go on an explore and went to Silver Springs State Park which has several walking trails to explore. We decided upon the River Trail which leads you to a beautiful river setting. Returning from the shore, we decided to explore the Silver River Museum. Amazing exhibits! So educational and informative, interactive and intriguing. An excellent place for children and adults alike. From the outside, the place looked rather small. Little did we know that inside the building, there are multiple rooms and display areas. I know we’ll be going back.

If you're a lover of history and nature, there's definitely something here for you. There's lots to do in the whole park, with endless trails filled with life all around you, to the history on display inside the museum and outside around the museum. The schoolhouse, and old cracker housing, the old blacksmith shop, it's all exactly what one needs to feel relaxed and to be one with some small town American History. If you come during the knapping event, there's even more for the kids to do,as well as adults. There's archery, pottery (complete with both kiln and fire curing), vendors of knapping tools, and sellers of various rocks for personal knapping. Definitely a must see if you're in the area.

I will be the 1st to say I was not expecting what was there, It was absolutely wonderful the Rangers were nothing but help and they encouraged the kids along with my son to you get more involved into the different artifacts. My son had an absolute blast and so did I after we went to the museum we went and did a few of the trails. We finished off at the cracker village that was also a huge hit. I'm surprised I never knew that was there and I was born and raised the next county over, we will definitely be going back to explore some more and hope to make it for the reenactment next weekend!

If you are visiting Silver Springs State Park or the camp ground, I would highly recommend checking out the museum. The admission is only $2. It is a nice museum show casing not only the Silver River natural environment but the State of Florida as well along with plenty of Florida history. The displays are nice, well-kept and very informative. There is a good variety of visual and interactive displays and reading. The staff are very volunteers who are very knowledgeable about the museum and and local area as well. There is also a small gift shop with souvenirs and post cards.

Beautiful hidden gem of historical information and displays! Very nicely laid out with plenty of information. 2 docents in separate display areas with lots of knowledge to share. Small gifts hope attached for a little something to take home for memories. Definitely worth the $2/person entrance fee. There is an $8/vehicle entrance fee to the park which also allows entrance into Silver Springs. Definitely allow enough time to meander and take it all in, ask questions, and enjoy. I would suggest a minimum of 2 hours. Enjoy!

We visited this on a weekend. It has a lot of history centered around silver springs. It has sections explaining the underground water systems, canoe building, steam boats, movies that were made in the area. It's a very interesting place to visit. Staff was friendly and interactive. You have to have cash to get in the museum itself and you have to pay a park admission fee to get to the museum.
