Flynn Township Nature Center — Attraction in Flynn Township

They are destroying all the habitat that thousands of ducks and geese use as a stopover during the migration. They should have cleared small sections, instead of 90% of where they nest and roost. Waterfowl have visited this area and ponds since before 1999 I'm sure. I used to be allowed to hunt there, with special permission of course. Since the township bought the property, only a few positive things have been done. They want nature to be there, but destroy habitat at the same time. Ducks Unlimited...

What happened to this place? We used to love hanging out there, and watching the wildlife. In summer of 2024 there were people living out of cars back there. They had garbage strewn everywhere. They looked a bit dangerous, since it was all men, so we stopped going. Decided to give it a try again last week, and though it's been hot and dry, the main trail was nearly impassable. Cool place to visit. Some nice trails. Several big pond to kayak in. There are very few fish because they​ are shallow and freeze on winter. There are a couple of picnic tables. This place is still under development, each year they improve s little more. I hope they dig out at least one of the ponds to make it fish...
