I was there during the festival weekend July 23rd Between 11am-12. I didn’t have a clue where to pick because I only saw one orange cone to the left toward vendors. It was my first time blueberry picking. I looked around and noticed no one else was in the area with orange cone by me so I headed toward the people. I figured it was the end of the line so that must be the start. So I walked toward the people. Still not seeing any orange cone I thought I was at another line that was safe. I found my bush and started to pick. I wasn’t there long because they told me I’m in wrong area. I was very confused by this since they have 42 acres but I didn’t argue. The helper was Very nice about it. So when I got to the “proper” area where most berries were picked. It was suggested I go down this one line if I wanted to get a good experience. It had weeds they said if you don’t mind them. I don’t mind weeds at all so I began picking. I figured I drove 50 minutes I better come home with something. Then I heard other customers complain around me about all the poison ivy. I thought oh no! So I look around and sure enough there was. I didn’t even think about it before I started. So that ended my visit because of the ivy. I came home and took a shower just in case and didn’t want any issues. But guess what? Next morning I got it under my arm. So needless to say, I will never go back. I heard many people complain about the ivy and no berries. Orange cones were hard to find and with over 40 acres, a few rows to pick wasn’t enough. It was 4.50 a lb you pick and 6.50 already picked. I won’t be going back. Pretty...
Read moreCompletely disappointing. Drove nearly two hours to experience the "Annual Blueberry Festival" with over a hundred acres of Blueberry bushes, children's activities, over 40 vendors, baked goods etc.
The only baked goods left were a couple slices of cheesecake and a few loaves of Blueberry zucchini bread. This was between noon and 1:00 on Saturday. The breakfast was just 'ok' and there wasn't that much for my toddler to actually do. We saw balloon animals, the small animal petting area and pony rides and one small bounce house full of older children. There was nowhere near 40 vendors, though they were very nice people to chat with.
The biggest disappointment, however, was when we went to go pick blueberries (which their u-pick prices for berries is more expensive than every other Blueberry Farm in Michigan I've seen charge for their pre-picked prices) we were only allowed to pick in a very small area which was already overpicked from EVERYBODY ELSE picking in the same small area. At that point, we left. That wasn't worth the drive, or the overpriced breakfast. The only good thing we experience was the Blueberry lemonade and Blueberry honey. A complete waste of a summer weekend day.
Never again. We'll start closer to home and go back to our local berry farmers for more options and...
Read moreI have been an annual customer here for over 50 years, and am very sorry to report an issue I had this year, that the owner is absolutely not willing to resolve to my satisfaction. My husband and I picked 4 full buckets of Blue Ray berries yesterday ($57.20). When we got them home, we immediately started noticing little white maggots surfacing in the bags. Upon closer examination, they were actually coming from within the berries, not just on top of them! I called the owner and she was not willing to refund our money, but said if we'd bring them back, a one hour drive, she'd replace any berry that we could show her with a maggot on it or inside! She said to just freeze them, and then we would never even notice them...problem solved in her mind! I am having a hard time thinking about eating them, or having to open and inspect each berry before eating them! Again, this has been a lifelong annual summer excursion for me, my children and grandchildren, but I'm sad to say we will not be returning to...
