This review is for the campground at Navarro Beach. The location of this campground is beautiful, right on the beach, and you can hear the waves crashing, walk the shore, see epic sunsets, have a hearty campfire. I had expected this spot to be pretty quiet, especially on Sunday and Monday nights in mid-October, but I was wrong. We were the second rig to arrive on Sunday around 3:30pm and thought cool, we have our pick of spots. By sunset, the place started to fill and by a little after sunset, all but a couple of the 10 sites were taken. It seems this campground is frequented by those traveling through, seeing as most of the arrivals came late and left early, when we were there. The campsites are close together, so if you, like us, were expecting to have this "undiscovered" gem of a beach campground to yourselves, think again!
The sites are all first come, first served, so if you can get one of the sites on either end (#1 or #10), you'll guarantee you'll only have one neighbor when the sunset camper crews arrive. Site 1 is by itself but looked difficult to level (for our 26' class A, YMMV).
There is no cell service whatsoever here, and pit toilets (no running water); there is a nice, stone picnic table in each site, as well as a fire pit. The cost of $35 a night is steep for primitive camping in closely spaced sites but the beach is stunning and makes it...
Read moreSo we were evacuated from Sonoma County due to the wildfires of 2020. We took 128 to the coast, never haven been there before. We found a beautiful campground with very few spots to camp, although there was ample parking. We called ahead and every place in the surrounding area was full. Soon after we arrived which was late afternoon a Deputized Park Ranger pulled in and was so uncompassionate and offered little guidance. She said we had to leave. We couldn't find anywhere else so returned and luckily got a campsite. When she came back she made sure we paid the full $35.00 plus $10 each vehicle. I am legally disabled and had my caregiver with me. The 3 outhouses as well as the one permanante one we're piling over the seat. You couldn't even sit down. With my fused spine, I can't squat. The park is beautiful, the...
Read moreI visited this beach in August while attending a music festival at Camp Navarro. It's a 15-20 minute drive to this beach from camp. This is my 2nd year visiting and both times were cold and windy even though back at camp it was hot. I attribute this to the position of the beach and the mountains/cliffs that surround. It's like the wind funnels down through and across the beach. I highly suggest you bring a hooded sweatshirt or jacket and pants just in case. There are beautiful home made teepees constructed from the driftwood that washes up that you can actually go inside and take a break from the wind. There's a bathroom and a couple porta potties. The parking lot is kind of small. Be aware, no...
