This campsite is located 5 mins after reaching the coast if you're travelling south on the 1 (btw kudos to you if you drove that crazy windy road and made it safe and sound on the coast!) When you drive down the 1, you'll see the state park hugging the coastline and its broken off into different 3 or 4 loops all along the coast. They have a fee box system and they do have quite a lot of sites. We came here in late Sept so there was a lot of availability at the time. The sites aren't too bad, pretty average and very open, not much privacy, some loops are better than others, but the views are absolutely breathtaking. You're basically paying for the views here. The toilets were really gross and the water wasn't working, if you ask me they should charge a lot less than $35, but it is worth a stay, especially after doing that crazy drive on the 1 from the North towards the coast, great reward, and the sunset was to die for. Not bad when you're stuck on where to stay and are...
Read moreThe Camp site is almost right on the beach. It's over looking it anyways. Its jus a small hike down. And I was even surprised that they had wifi on site which is I guess a bad thing if ur looking to get away from the world kind of place (in which case jus leave ur phn off lol) but it came in handy for a quick communication, a quick pic upload to Facebook of my 2 little boys 1st trip to the beach. But then I disconnected rite after bc it was a battery killer between the wifi & service area lol. The only bad thing I hav to say is that they need to hav mor than jus the 1 bathroom/toilet. And hav it cleaned & taken care of mor often. It was pretty foul. My kids wouldnt use it. They wer afraid of it lol. Thank God we wer ther with my parents who happened to bring there 5th wheel that had it's own...
Read moreThis review isn't about the location (one of the most beautiful places I've been) rather the state's management of the campground.
Some (but only some) of the sites around the edge were closed due a bear sighting. I don't know about you but my bear totally respects boundaries when I put up signs.
No water? Why is this even an option not to have it? And are you offering a discount because this critical piece is missing? The signs say it's unsafe but the host said it leaks and needed to be turned off. Which one is it? I guess it's easier to say unsafe because then you wouldn't need to admit neglected infrastructure.
How can every other pit toilet exercise some measure of odor control but you do the opposite? Worst I've ever experienced by an order...
