Small Grand Things Wedding Estate — Attraction in Fort Madison

The venue itself is absolutely stunning and it would be the perfect place for a wedding if it wasn't for the horrible service they provide. My sister got married and up until the day of the wedding they were wonderful and kind people. But as soon as the day came they very rude, disrespectful and did not provide the services that my sister and brother in law paid them for. They were very rude to guests and were very unprofessional when it came to guests and the bride and groom making requests. The workers made the wedding party and guests feel like an inconvience and we're treated very poorly. They did not provide the warmers for food or the goblets for drinks that were included in the package that was paid for. They also did help with serving the food or provide any of the utensils to serve food either. The bride and groom paid for those services. They also locked us out of the building next door where guests kept stuff to breast feed babies and the wedding party kept their belongings. Not only did they lock us out but they also removed our belongings from the bedrooms in the suites and then cleaned and locked the bedroom doors so we couldn't get back in them. It is not professional to move other people's belongings without permission. They did not provide the rides in the golf carts for people as was promised in the contract. The lack of service provided and the rudeness of the staff actually led my sister and her husband to forgo staying in the wedding suite and they ended up packing up their decorations and ending the reception early. They also do not allow guests to have access to the guest wifi in the venue. And even though the DJ was included in their package they informed my sister as we were leaving that she had to pay the DJ because the venue said they weren't going to pay him. The place would be wonderful and gorgeous for a wedding if it was owned and ran by someone who actually cared about the bride and groom and making their day special. The venue itself is very pretty and the wedding I attending went great. The bridal party got to stay in the house next to the venue the night before so that was convenient! My friend was the one who got married and she felt let down by the service from the people working. She was excited that they were going to be helping refill the food throughout dinner, but when it came dinner time, the employees had no part of it. They were rude to the guests who said they would fill in and refill food as needed, which is what my friend was told the venue would take care. After we ate, my husband went up to where the employees were sitting on their phones, by the DJ, and asked if they were going to clear the dirty dishes from the tables because it didn’t seem like they were even going to do that. They made rude remarks to several guests and when it came time for people to leave, they were nowhere to be found with the golf cart to help people get to their vehicles. Overall, I feel like my friend was promised one thing about how the employees would be a help on her big day, instead they stressed her out. The service up until her wedding seemed to be great and then on the most important day, she felt let down. Beautiful venue. Nicely priced but when we saw the venue to tour we were told we would be accommodated with golf cart to help guests come to and fro, when it came to the wedding seemed we were a burden to ask for help getting the older people to and fro. The bridal party thought there was a lot of rude comments made about things we would ask for concerning things. If it rains, they won’t allow you to park up front to unload and seemed very annoyed that we would think about it. They should have gravel down all the way up so guest can walk since they don’t like to use the golf cart to transport like they said they would do for us.
