Without much rain lately, it was just a downhill and then uphill hike along the trees. It would be beautiful with water in the streams. Not much though without the flowing streams. It's a good trail to train uphill and stairs if trying to find somewhere local to train for a hike somewhere else harder in the future. For instance, my friend is doing the entire half dome hike in September. This trail was good uphill practice for her. She also carried a 20 lb backpack to simulate how her hike will be at half dome with all the stuff she'll have to carry. The view at the beginning is nice if you're leaving from Cloudland Canyon. But after that, there's no view. This is clearly a hike for the streams which are non existent...

A nice hike up to the lower falls. Don't miss the blue hole on the way. Many opportunities to walk the river rocks, though the lower river bed was dry when we were there late August. The incline is slow and the path well groomed until the last stretch where it gets a little challenging. Rocks and roots plus a pant-inducing incline for this out of shape old woman. But keep with it, rest and go again! The Hemlock Falls that are at the top are ok- a mere shadow of what they once were (you can see where they used to fall from the entire width of the ledge, but now only about 20%). Buy the hike is a good trip up and back that took us about 4.5 hours to do at a...

If you're not an experienced hiker this trail is very hard. I do a lot of hiking, but a lot of my local trails are pretty flat.

Took me about 2hrs to get to the top. I had to take multiple breaks in the way up. There are restrooms at the top of the trail.

If you intend to hike the whole trail, I recommend starting at the bottom, so that you have the most energy going up, and when you're tired out, it'll make the coming back down easy and quick.

This trail does not loop, it is a straight 1- way stretch, so pay attention to the fact that you'll have to turn around and head back the same exact direction that you came.

Bring LOTS of water, and a...
