We talked to the girls at the desk before going for a hike. We were told that there was a group going at 2 pm. I told my kids we would talk about it. I decided to cut our hike short to get back before 2. We pulled back in at 1:30. There was a group gearing up... the girl (a different girl) at the desk was 💯 unempathic. She said they changed to 1pm. "You didn't have reservations," I told her I was told 2, it's 1:30! The lack of empathy, especially in front of my children, was infuriating. It is a week day, and I was previously told they were "wide open"! The girl could barely get out from under her blanket and was completely unable to address us as a potential customer....

We’re from Illinois and stopped at a few national parks prior to this, and drove through Alabama and made a stop here on our way to the next national park! Jacob and Buddy were our guides, it was me, my friend, and an 8yr old boy, and they did a great job of keeping us engaged, feeling safe, and being super encouraging (I was more scared than I expected haha).
