I also visited this museum and was totally surprised with all the information on Ft Chaffee. My tour guide was Rod Williamson through the Barber Museum and this one. He was so informed and I was in awe with his knowledge of the history of the area. I was born near Ft. Chaffee and my dad barbered there in the 50's. When I returned to Ft. Smith in the 70's my friends and I got to know many of the Weekend Warriors. However, the history of German POW's there in the 40's was shocking! There is so much history I didn't know. Some of the Vietnamese refugees were housed there in the 70's, which I knew about. I worked for Donrey Media Group at that time. Anyone that was military and stationed there would be surprised with the items and information that is stored in the museum. I recommend anyone that has passed through the gates of Ft. Chaffee visit! I was headed back to Memphis and look forward to returning to spend more time...
