On long hauls in and out of our temporary home in Big Bend NP, this stop is a family favorite and we are extremely grateful for it. It’s typically clean and more free of trash and smashed glass than other places around Texas. Nice picnic tables and trash cans. No restroom, but my dog gets a chance to relieve herself in some shade. Check out my recent video on my channel on YouTube, Hammocks to Coasters.

TEXAS. REST AREA. OVERNIGHTER. Drove thru on way to big bend. Very small area down by road then opens up up the somewhat steep hill. The upper area has a one lane drive all the way round that will not permit two vehicles width wise and only two small areas to park and pull off unless you pull onto the grass areas which it looks like some people have. Nice picnic areas. No services.

There is a pull of here, however it was uncomfortably windy, I didn’t have cell signal (Straight Talk) so after I got done cooking, headed back to the Walmart. Also the fence made it impossible to take decent photos. There are trash cans, and it would be fine for an overnighter on the way to Big Bend.

A beautiful gem dedicated to Mr. Warnock. There are 2 picnic covers, dog area ,trash cans, parking and views. And it's a darn shame. Beer bottles everywhere, tossed over fence. One grill destroyed. There are a few illegal fire rings full of burnt wood. Garbage cans full to top with fast food containers. The signs are full of bullet holes. It is remote on top of hill. Don't go there after dark. It's a local...

Nice little rest stop in the middle of nowhere. I tried camping here a few years ago and I'm not sure what happened. I felt something / someone watching me. Didn't feel safe. Felt like I was in danger. Haven't felt that again. Something was on the ridge, there was no noise. Maybe it was a mountain lion, I'm not sure. I felt like it was hunting me. I left and that sense of doom was in...
