The excitement of being surrounded by so many consumer goods was palpable, and I eagerly made my way through the crowds, taking in everything the mall had to offer.

But as I wandered deeper into the labyrinthine halls, I began to notice something strange. The shops all seemed to sell the same things, with only slight variations in their wares. The music blaring from the speakers overhead sounded muffled and discordant, as though it was being played underwater. The shoppers around me were all moving with a frenzied energy, their eyes glazed over as they mindlessly consumed more and more.

I stopped for the nation-acclaimed Panda Express. The food was hot, quickly served, and given with a smile. The common eating area was cleaned and frequently maintained, as I saw some custodial staff monitoring the eating area and picking up.
