WOMEN BEWARE Please be aware of your surroundings. I do run with a consealed gun for my protection. Today I needed it. I have been running at Oakmont Park/ Art Cowsen trailhead for 4years without any issues. I always felt safe until today. I was on the back end where there wasn't anybody. I could see a guy on a mountain bike coming towards me. As he got closer I could see he was naked. We made eye contact and he greeted me. I passed him about 50ft and I stopped and said I'm going to call the police. He then stopped and got off the bike and said, "What did you say." I proceeded to pull out my phone and he started making a motion to grab his backpack. I said you better not come near me. I run with a gun. He ran into the bush's and put some shorts on. He started to get back on his bike. I got scared and facetimed my husband and took off running towards a clearer area. I was still a 1.5 miles from my car. That walk back was very uneasy. I got to an area that had people and called the police to give my report. I ended up spotting him in my car. He was a few miles from the park and a gold older model Range Rover stopped and picked him up. He put his bike in the back. This guy had no good intentions. The situation could have been way worse. Thank you lord for never leaving my side. Always be aware of your surroundings.
Description of the guy: Young about 25ish. White, with dark hair Slim build about 5'8" Dark Mountain bike, black helmet. Water double strap sandals Backpack was a teal greenish...
Read moreI walked 4 miles in the park !!🥴 It was simply beautiful!! Lush woods, pretty neighborhoods, lots of trees for shade. Bat boxes ( yes, bat boxes), & fruit trees. I walked from Oakmont Park to Trinity trail head and back. The entire trail is 5.5 miles long. There were cyclers fellow walkers and joggers. Not crowded, but not desolate either. There was a playground for children also. The waterfall was pretty and relaxing. There are benches along the way, in case you want to take in the views or just rest. I'm definitely going to make this part of my regular walking routine. Oh yeah, dogs are allowed too, but must be leashed. Bruno (my cocker spaniel) is gonna really like this...
Read moreGreat park with paved pathway for biking, running and walking the dogs on a leash. Open dawn to dusk. Very nice neighborhoods nearby with people out and about all the time. Take a short walk up the path and around a curve to find the playground area with open green fields for frisbee and picnics. Near the parking lot is a portable bathroom at start of pathway. This porta potty is large enough for a stroller to fit inside as well as a dog if need be. I even saw a guy take his bicycle inside once. Not sure if it has a hand washing station inside. I'll check it out and post back when I...
