Gorgeous hike! We did have a few discoveries along the way that made the excursion that much more exciting. 1) The "bridge" across the river is actually a fallen log that you climb up and walk across. 2) We met many friendly people along the trail, but it wasnt overly crowded. 3) "Flat iron" tree fell down about 15 years ago, but the sign is still there with no indication of the fall. 4) We heard some growling (a couple of mountain lions?) when we got a bit deeper in the woods and swiftly turned around.

This short little hike did not disappoint! Walking through the redwoods is really a spiritual experience. You can feel the energy. The park is very clean and it’s a very easy hike. I saw many families with small children. The parking is somewhat limited but we didn’t have any trouble on a Thursday. There was even a park docent that gave us lots of information about the trees in the local wildlife. I highly suggest visiting this area especially if you just did the...

This is definitely the trail through the Redwoods to stroll on if you are visiting Humboldt Redwoods. The road is a little bumpy and narrow in parts, but the drive to the spot is well worth it. What you will get is nice mile loop without the noise pollution of the Highway 101 or the Avenue of the Giants. This short little hike did not disappoint! Walking through the redwoods is really a spiritual experience. You can feel the energy. The park is very clean and it’s a very easy hike. I saw many families with small children. The parking is somewhat limited but we didn’t have any trouble on a Thursday. There was even a park docent that gave us lots of information about the trees in the local wildlife. I highly suggest visiting this area especially if you just did the Matole road loop
