Gorgeous hike! We did have a few discoveries along the way that made the excursion that much more exciting. 1) The "bridge" across the river is actually a fallen log that you climb up and walk across. 2) We met many friendly people along the trail, but it wasnt overly crowded. 3) "Flat iron" tree fell down about 15 years ago, but the sign is still there with no indication of the fall. 4) We heard some growling (a couple of mountain lions?) when we got a bit deeper in the woods and swiftly turned around.

I saw many families with small children. The parking is somewhat limited but we didn’t have any trouble on a Thursday. The road is a little bumpy and narrow in parts, but the drive to the spot is well worth it. What you will get is nice mile loop without the noise pollution of the Highway 101 or the Avenue of the Giants.
