I live here and frequent Chapman's often. I've seen all that they have but there is so much, that every time I go, I see something new! If you like; Precious stones. Semi-precious stones. Fossilized wood. Fossilized plants. Geodes full of brilliant amethyst over four feet long. Chinese history. Gold history. Local history. I could go on forever! If you like anything that has to do with the planet Earth, this is the place. It's a hands on relaxed atmosphere and the folks there are awesome! Get your picture next to a rare true copy of one of the Chinese Tera-cotta soldiers.
Edit: If they aren't busy, see if they'll open the vault. Phenomenal history in there. The last few times I was there, it was closed. Very cool! It used to be open all the time but with thefts going on, I'm glad it is shut. Too much history to loose there. I never get tired of the vault. Little treasures. Lots of them! If you're lucky enough to see what's inside, you'll feel your trip...
Read moreOne of.my absolute favorite shops. They are my main shop for crystals besides my main shop close to my house. I have to stop everytime we are going that way no matter what. My kids love their museum while I shop till I drop. They have the best prices then any other place I have been. It feels.like you're getting wholesale. I love their "rock garden" where you can buy giant rose quartz by the pound and other rough gems. Their cut your own geodes have never failed me in being hollow and stunning. I usually leave there with a minimum of ten on top of a full cart. One of the only place where you can get so.much for a great price. If you are a newbie and starting a collection I highly recommend them as they have discounted specimens. Excellent for major collectors, prospectors and minors like myself as they have every items and specimen I need in one spot. Already planning my...
Read moreI've been to rock shops across the U.S and I have to say that this is hands down the best one when it comes to all the things you'd rate a store on. The staff is lovely, helpful, and knowledgable about everything in the store. The selection is absurd. Every type of stone/mineral/crystal you'd want; and more. There's the store, the gallery by request, and the museum. The quality of the stones is also superb, as in some places unknowingly sell fake/misidentified stones, everything here was real. And finally the prices. Everything in this store made me realize how overpriced everywhere else is. While I was checking out, I wanted to double the amount I was paying because I felt like I got too good of a deal. 15/10 best rock store ever, coming from a critical...
