When's the last time you sat on a park bench to watch. . . a waterfall? Five minutes of watching a waterfall will bring you relaxation seldom seen elsewhere. This portion of the D&L trail is worth seeing. As you head south, the Lehigh River (full of joyous rafters and kayakers) is to your left, and a rocky cliff is to your right. The cliff has waterfalls, rhododendrons, and trees. There are picnic tables in beautiful settings. The trail itself is immaculately groomed crushed stone, with a grassy shoulder on both sides. Because it's an old railroad bed, it's flat. Nine miles south of this trailhead is a toilet facility, at the spot where the rafting companies disembark their exhausted rafters.
