Come with us as we visit Clear Spring Ranch in Fountain, Colorado! (3/10/25) This is probably our most visited place because it is flat and easy, which is what we needed for Chance these past couple of years. It is always empty and I like to walk in peace. There is not too much going on, but it will be a lot prettier when it blooms these upcoming months. Instead of doing the loops to the left, we went to the right just to see where it ended. We saw an opening to the creek and I wanted to go to the little “island in the middle”. Chance was having a blast in the sand and splashing by water. I rarely take let him play in the water because he always drinks it and after all this time I don’t really know how to determine if water is safe or not, so I just usually play it safe and don’t let him. Clear Spring Ranch has four miles of trails, recreation facilities such as a pavilion, picnic tables, restrooms, and plenty of parking. It also includes active farming, grasslands, riparian habitat, and foothills ecosystems. Be mindful of where you are walking and stay on marked roads and trails, stay out of the farm fields and homestead. I love using this park as a photography location because it is so secluded and beautiful. Compared to my home, there are a lot of mosquitoes, so I like to bring the bug spray. The restrooms are great, but not always unlocked. Depending on the path you take, your scenery can be completely different than going a different way, so it's nice to explore them all.

Pretty flat and even trails with total distances over 8 miles! One trail is washed out but other than that it's a very nice area for hiking and has a park. Note the trails have no shade so wear protection if you have sensitive skin.

Wonderful quiet space that apparently a lot of people don’t know about. Most of the time I go to hike the trails there is no one else there. El Paso county installed picnic tables, a covered area for parties, an outdoor bathroom and had even installed a sprinkler system. Unfortunately it looks like they don’t do much to the area anymore and it’s looking neglected. Weeds are growing and paint is...

Glad to see the parks are still a great place to unwind at no cost. We live and enjoy both clean air and water so I grateful for the many things alot of us take for granted but if you travel when you see pollution in the air and taste water or in some places you can't Evan drink the tap water you appreciate what we have here...
