Believe every other review about this being a hard hike and about the drive up being rough. I saw an Audi come up the road and thought he clearly must not like his car that much lol. Will the car make it? Yes, but your suspension and paint job will not be happy. Something that other reviewers missed mentioning- due to how high the mountain peaks around you are, expect the sun to disappear (and the lakes not being beautifully lit) by 4pm (during the fall; even earlier in the winter obviously). Two hours before the actual sunset. I made the mistake of starting my first hike at 4pm. An hour or so in (of intense steep inclines the entire way), someone mentioned that the lake has long been in the shade already. I made the decision to turn around and sleep in my car to try it again in the morning. If you’re a photographer or care about this, please keep it in mind. The hike takes what feels like forever. Everyone I saw on the hike was very friendly. The nice thing about harder hikes like this one is that it really filters out the jerks that just want a quick and easy photo and don’t actually appreciate nature. I also absolutely loved that this is a dog friendly trail. But keep in mind that because it’s so steep and long, it might be too much for your dog. Almost every dog I passed was tired and ready to go home. The lakes are beautiful, and the bottom lake has some big boulders you can rest on. Make sure to layer up because it’s definitely chillier by the water. Was it worth the intense hike? I’m not sure. If you love the actual act of hiking, then yes. But I hike primarily for the photos at the end, so I can’t say for sure whether all that work was worth the few photos I got. Also! The best photos you’ve seen of the bottom lake are actually taken on the way up to middle lake. While the first lake is beautiful to walk up to and really worth resting at, its hard to get a photo that captures its beauty and size from right next to it. If you’ve already come this far, definitely continue the hike at least to the middle lake (another big steep incline but you should be used to it by now). One last thing- absolutely no cellphone reception on the road up nor at the parking lot. However, about two thirds of the way up, you randomly get signal on top of the mountain. This was a pleasant surprise and I was able to update my family that I was fine and share a few...
Read moreEven if you are 50 miles away from that place and haven't been there, it is MUST VISIT ASAP spot for sure. Hard to explain it with the word's... Trail is pretty moderate for a jogging, I tried to make a 5k trail run but it wasn't that easy that I thought it should be. So, when we went there next day (because it was hard not to visit this wonderful place again), we decided to do an easy stady jog. After 3.3 mile of walking from parking lot you will reach first Blue lake wich you can see on the pictures I've added. First and second day of the travel we did good swimming in the lake , I will recommend you to try it if you are not too sensitive to a cold water. It is great experience, specially during the hot summer time. The total walking distance is about 7 miles round-trip, keep it in mind according with your schedule. It will take about 4 hours with no rush. It is place to be 100%. Don't forget to try some wild growing raspberries. Also if you have plenty of time , stay there in a tent at least...
Read moreLower Blue Lakes is a challenging hike but worth every single second. It is about 6.6 miles round trip, you will end at lower blue lake which is it about 11,500 feet. There are frequent Avalanches in this area during winter. The damage and power can be seen first hand when on some of the more challenging areas of this trail. Do not go up there with snow pack heavy on the mountain. The first mile changes elevation fast and will knock the wind out of you if you dont pace yourself. The hike is gorgeous from start to finish. Do not go unprepared take A LOT OF WATER AND SNACKS. Stay off this mountain if you are a casual hiker and leave the trail free and clear for the more experienced. It's not the hardest trail but should be taken seriously. This place will take your breath away...from the hike and the BEAUTY. Go up there with pure intentions and pack out what you take up with you. I promise you won't regret this hike. Great for...
