This was kind of a creepy experience , and let's get something straight , this particular series of photes may have TECHNICALLY been in the Carson National Forest but in reality it's on the Eastern edge of Taos , off a dirt road heading out to the forest proper but was found right after a huge refuse dump filled with all manner of construction debris ( that's where the last 3 photos of a giant Cholla cactus were . To huge to move or I would have tried to get some for the cactus art I occasionally make for sale . SO ......PEOPLE VIEWING THIS , I THOUGHT A LONG TIME BEFORE DECIDING TO POST THESE .........BECAUSE THESE ARE SKELETONS OF WILD HORSES. !!! At first I thought they were cattle skulls and such and was going to get some horns , BUT , to my utter horror I realized they were horses . And these are scattered over a 3 or 4 acre area ! I cannot even estimate how many . 20 to 30 at least though I shudder to think , possibly 50 plus . I cannot express how horrified and disgusted I became when I realized what I was standing in the middle of !!! Even now , months later it brings chills to me and as I said I almost DID NOT POST THESE . THEY WERE THAT TRAUMATIZING . BUT ...... I decided maybe a close up GRAPHIC PHOTO DISPLAY was in order. I don't know who did this , and let express that it was NOT natural by any means . Whoever you are , wherever you are and for whatever reason you had for this , may the Lord have mercy on your soul the Devil won't and I think or at least hope , to that's where your bound . View these photos but be warned !! They are highly disturbing , at least , they...

Beautiful northern NM destination. We dry camped near the campground and fished at Hopewell Lake. Weather was nice though fairly windy at times. Night time was chilly but if you are appropriately attired and equipped it's no problem. Our group had trailers but we used a truck bed tent and were comfortable in sleeping bags though night two we added one on top. We used a portable shower for a bathroom. Be prepared, though, to pack out your waste and trash. As a group we caught enough fish for a fish fry one night. We did not note trends for times or locations around the lake that were better for catching. One group member did well using a personal pontoon. Note this is a no wake late so leave motor boats at home. Several people were out on kayaks. This is not a huge lake but we had space enough. Things are kept clean and rangers check on things so be responsible and respectful. Daily rate was $8 so take $5s and $1s!!!! The drive is also gorgeous so allow some time to check out views and note things to do for future trips. Photos of lake, area near our camp and return drive through Tierra...

Over all experience here at Taos ski resort is OK, the runs are not that great compare to most places we ski to. They do not have mountains host to introduce us their mountains. Most runs are short distance. The worst part was their lifts was very slow moving and the most disappointing part was we came to ski and barely have snow on the mountains, most runs was closed due to not enough snow. And, the horrid part on our vacation was the hotel that was recommended by Taos ski resort and was one of their list "Kachina Lodge" we are extremely unhappy and mad! This hotel is absolutely felty, they do not clean the room, we've been there for 5 nights now, our room hasn't been clean, no toilet paper, no towels, no clenex, no water to drink, trash is piling up, and they advertise that they have hot tub and it was closed. We contacted the owner of this Kachina Lodge haven't heard from him, and yes complaint was filed. Wish I can attach the pictures I took from our room so you can see yourself how felty this place is. I will advise everyone NOT to stay in Kachina Lodge. Extremely disgusting...

We went to Trampas Medio campground, and it is gorgeous! There is a beautiful little stream there, just the right speed for our kids to play in safely. We picked wild raspberries, though I think it must have been the end of the season because there were very few left. There was a good deal of broken glass around our particular campsite the second time we went, so we ended up shifting the campfire away from there so as to avoid the bulk of it. Please don't break glass here! We really like this site, and intended to use it again! One important caution though, if you're coming from Santa fe or that general direction, don't take the "fastest" route Google maps gives you. It takes county road 75 through Truchas to forest road 639, which we learned after carefully navigating it for like 45 minutes at >5 miles a hour that it is not intended for passenger cars. I didn't see a sign at the beginning of the road, but we saw it at the other end for sure! We also saw an undercarriage and a wheel on the side of that road from those less fortunate or less skilled at off-roading than my husband!

We loved the hike up to Williams Lake, it was simply beautiful. We hiked this trail on May 26, 2019 and there is still plenty of snow found in the area, appearing to be at least three feet deep in many places. We started early, so the snow was frozen and hard packed. We hiked with micro spikes on our boots and used hiking poles, which made the going much easier. The sun really warmed things up on the way down and the trail became pretty slushy. The hike up is a steady ascent, something like 1000 feet in a mile and a half, but it's pleasant as you spend a lot of time in a pine tree filled, beautiful forest. The trail is easy to find, just look for the blue markers. After about a mile and a half you arrive in a valley and will be rewarded with stunning views of towering, snow covered mountains, and the lake. As of May 26, 2019, the lake is still frozen over. Regardless, this is a beautiful and worthwhile hike. Would recommend this for anyone who is in at least moderate shape.
