An awe strikingly beautiful trail. Definitely not an easy hike by any means but certainly worthy of your time and sweat spent. The views are stunning. And with a good portion of the trail above the tree line do make sure to bring plenty of water and be mindful of the weather as pop up afternoon thunderstorms do occur throughout the summer months. If you plan on doing this hike and you're on vacation from an area that is considerably lower in elevation than RMNP and it's surrounding areas than I definitely would give yourself a day or two to become acclimated to the altitude before attempting it. I’m not experienced climber and your perception of distance(down) is challenged. Ha! Lake is beautiful. 2 technical climbers were coming down the 3000’ cliff(hence the name Chasm Lake. Amazing! The climb back up to the jct. was scarier to me for some reason. Dark when I got back to my truck. If out of shape like I was(trucker) take plenty of water and a 20oz ribeye.
