it kills me to write this, I had so much hope for this resort. I started to work here a few years ago, and it was a great experience, and I loved working with the team and being with family and friend, last year I had the opportunity to be the lift manager, and I took it. between me and three other managers we build this as a family and a great team, there was so many great things about this place, sadly there is so many problems with this as well, the main shareholder will yell at the team if he does not get his way, he even went as far as calling them dumb cows, forcing them to work without taking breaks, he will expect everyone to no what he is thinking, if you don't, he will yell at them. all the rental equipment needs to be replaced, there are boots that have holes in them, binding that fall off on the lift, this did not go well with me because it puts the public at risk pf getting hurt, but sadly the owner did not care, just before I became the manager, there was so many people not getting paid, missing hours, and not even getting paperwork to get hired on to work, I had to go in a fix so many problems working 70/80-hour weeks. when I was able to get most things in order it ran smoothly for the most part, the only problem we had was the majority shareholder living upstairs in the resort and his son, his son would play my dad is the owner, and he didn't need a pass card threatening the team members, this is not okay for any place of business, no one should have to get yelled at or threatened for $11 an hour. this place is not safe to work for why it's under the curent owner t has gone downhill the last few years, mostly because he has been living there and around more, the tubing hill is a joke, so much time was waisted and so many people got put in danger due to the fact it is not done right, there are massive boulders on the bottom of it and the owner don't care because he is the one that did it that way, he does not care if the public gets hurt, he also don't care if team members get hurt, we had a few team member get hurt on the job including me, I was never able to get taken care of because I was the manager, the other few it was so hard to get help with their injuries, it took a few weeks and I finally just learned and did it for them, I was given no help, it has been almost a year and he is still refusing to help with there injury's calming they was not working for them despite they was. I can write so much more, but In the end the only thing that matters is if the owner looks and realizes that it takes a great team to grow, and he just can't do it himself, there are so many great people that want to be there, it's sad that every year he has to find a new manager, I was hoping to be able to be a part of the team this year, but sadly due to me bringing up the safety and the problems, they do not want me there, so please be aware of working . there have been so many team members abused and even lied to by the owner we couldn't even have a party because there was no money for it at the end of the year last year and so many people did not get the amount that they were told, so please watch out if you choose to be under the current owner. and I am more than happy to answer...

I would have rated them higher if I'd reviewed them sooner, but then today happened. I have now been three times, only for tubing. Once with my 6yo daughter, once with our whole family of 4, and today with my 6yo son. The first time was pretty good, except the food closed so early we weren't able to eat at all. Would have been nice to see hours posted somewhere other than at the food register, which is in a completely different part of the building from the ticketing area. The second time the run was different--not surprising considering the nature of it. But there was a bump that sent you into the air, and it hurt my husband's back badly enough he only went a few times, moaning in pain each time. We figured it was just the way it goes, and don't hold it against Cherry Peak. The bathroom in the top of the building was SO gross. It smelled like a sewer. But it wasn't worth getting upset over. But today...

I checked online and also called to make SURE the tubing hill was open. It checked out. Mom/son day was a go! We got there at around 1:30, so they'd been open for about 4.5 hours. We had 2.5 hours available to have our fun before they closed. It was AWFUL. We were the ONLY people there for tubing...it sounds good until you find out that it means YOU have to make the run actually work!! They did nothing to make sure it actually was usable. The only place you could slide any further than 3 feet--if that--was where it goes steeply below a bridge. Down for a very short distance, up the other side, and stop. I pushed and pulled my son the entire way down the hill. I myself only slid on that very short steep section. We tried 1 more time, in hopes that the one run made it at least a LITTLE better. It didn't. The attendant actually left the magic carpet on the bunny hill to try and get my son going. He got him to the same steep section, then returned to the top. I tried again, and ended in the same spot. We were barely past the bridge, and far from what is supposed to be the end. I was really upset. It took so long to drag the tubes back down just 2 times an HOUR had gone by! If we had kept it up it MIGHT have been decent by the time they closed, and would have been a lot of work and no fun for me. So I was paying THEM to make THEIR run work! I complained, and they tried to give me tickets for next season and told me "next time, come earlier in the season"! They refused to refund me because they "just don't do that" and because we'd used the tubes. YES, WHICH IS HOW WE WERE ABLE TO FIND OUT HOW HORRIBLE IT WAS! Absolutely retched customer service today! So sad, the ADULT manager was a creeo, while the KIDS we encountered on previous visits were awesome! Oh, and apparently the OFFICE MANAGER has no way to know if anybody has bought tickets, even if she's the only one giving tags out. I guess she's also completely incapable of communicating with the outside staff, or maybe just considers them below her, judging by her attitude.

Summary: WINTER--Not at ALL what I picture when I think of a resort. IF you happen to go at a good time, it can be fun, but plan on the possibility of paying THEM to work for them, especially if you are the first and/or...

I am deeply disappointed and feel taken advantage of. I have a great affection for our small town of Richmond and make it a priority to support our local businesses. However, today's experience at Cherry Peak was the final straw for me. I understand that every business faces challenges and miscommunications can occur among employees. I even sympathize with the constraints of a limited budget that may result in worn-out equipment. However, what I fail to comprehend is the management's policy of exploiting their customers. Today, my two daughters asked me to take them skiing. As beginner skiers, this was a wonderful opportunity to introduce them to the joys of the mountain, considering we live just 3 miles away from the lift.I have a season pass, so... I purchased two tickets, one for my 11-year-old and another for my older daughter. We proceeded to the rental shop to get boots and skis. Once the girls were ready, we headed towards the magic carpet for their lesson with their dad. I got the my girls ready and noticed that my youngest daughter's ticket was an adult ticket not a Youth. Well, OK I give a little to the cause today. Unfortunately, when we arrived at the magic carpet area, it was broken and roped off. I chatted with two of the employees of the resort. They said it would not be fixed today, but possibly tomorrow. Super nice guys and did their best to make the apologies for the resort. I was faced with a dilemma. I wasn't comfortable taking the girls to the top of the mountain on the chairlift. Therefore, I made the decision to postpone our skiing lessons for another day. We went down to the ticket counter to request a refund. However, the young lady behind the counter informed me that since the main chairlift was functioning, we did not qualify for a refund. I explained to her that we were beginners seeking our first lesson, and I simply wasn't comfortable taking the girls on the main chairlift. Her response was, "Sorry, we don't offer refunds. That's the management's policy." Feeling frustrated, I was grateful when the rental department contacted the manager and requested a refund for our rental equipment. Nonetheless, I am still left with the burden of being overcharged $83 for two adult lift tickets we could not use. I only have 30 days remaining on my season pass, but I'm hesitant about returning due to the mountain's poor conditions and the attitude of the employees influenced by management. Throughout the years, I've heard numerous negative remarks about our local Cherry Peak. Despite this, I strive to support them because they are a local establishment right in our backyard. However, it seems that the general public's concerns may hold some truth. I sincerely hope that Cherry Peak can address their issues and improve their overall operations. It would be wonderful to have a local mountain that we can enjoy with our family for generations to come. Unfortunately, my optimism is...
