This was a breathtaking panoramic view. An unexpected one for us too as we hadn’t planned this hike out. We started at the chapel and went around in a big 3 hour loop which got pretty intense half way through. We lost the trail a few times as it wasn’t always well marked and the track got hard to discern.
Luckily it was clear when our direction just got too treacherous that it was obviously the wrong way down. But there were still some parts in the Hog Trails that got pretty steep and slippery. Definitely prepare for an advanced hike around those parts.
Chicken point overlook in particular was not scary at all, just breathtaking! Although the Jeep tour sounded exhilarating as we could hear them hooting and hollering all their roller coaster drives.
Honestly you can hang out there for a while with a book or find a place to string up a hammock it was just so serene. The weather was just perfect as well, definitely...
Read moreThe Broken Arrow Trail gets you here! It's an easy trail but does require 4 wheel drive vehicle - preferably a Jeep. Trucks will NOT do well on this trail and will not be able to maneuver some areas depending on the size. Once on the trail it's about a half hour or less to Chicken Point and the Two Nuns. The view is spectacular in all directions. On a windy day you will experience some level of annoyance. The wind will swirl in this area so come on a relaxed weather day. If you come alone and not on a Jeep tour I recommend either following or listening to the guides of the jeep tours once you at chicken point. You get free info about the Vista point. Enjoy. It's one of my favorite trails and...
Read moreTo get to Chicken Point we used the Broken Arrow Trailhead parking. Lots of options to branch out once you’re there. We branched off on a side trail closer to the buttes and rejoined Broken Arrow trail to get to Chicken Point. Once at chicken point you have a direct view overlooking bell rock. You can go up from there and have a view at white line which is right above chicken point. Not as highly reviewed as some of the hikes in the area but it was a great choice for a easy hike. You’ll see the pink jeeps out and about cruising in the area as well. All Trails lists this hike to chicken point as a moderate 2.8 mile out & back with 400’ elevation gain (on Broken...
