Crystal Forest Trail is a short, easy loop that winds through a forest of petrified wood.

The trail is well-maintained and easy to follow. It's also paved, which makes it accessible for people with mobility issues. The trail is open year-round, but it's best to visit during the spring or fall when the weather is mild.

With its stunning scenery and easy-to-follow trail, it's a great option for visitors of all ages...

Such a cool spot. Worth the whole trip to the petrified forest. How the heck do the log crystallize like that. Continental drift? Weird. But awesome!Has a cool paved trail through the crystallized logs. Pretty strict too. Stay on the trial. Preserves the awesome. Has a seating area, gallery posting, and info for a little light on this amazing phenomenon. Go check it out. Only 30 minutes in from...

A little way up the trail there was an extremely nice and helpful National Parks Archeologist there providing information on everything about the ancient petrified forest and the ancient peoples of the area as well. Fascinating! Be sure to take the time to hike the short loop trail here. There is an abundance of petrified wood all along the way. We were here in April 2022 and the weather was perfect for enjoying the scenery. Restrooms are available at the trailhead parking lot. There are a few shade shelters along the way if you get too hot. Highly recommended.

Great little trail to see plenty of different types of petrified wood. There were also a bunch of plaques with great information about said wood. The sand and land wasn’t as beautiful here as it is in some other places throughout the park, but there were so many pieces of petrified wood that it was totally worth the stop.
