I’m going to give this state park a 5 star because I hope it will get there. As of this review it is Colorado’s newest state park. That being the case I understand it has a lot of growing to do. When I went the views were nice but the trail system is not adequate. There is one partial trail that goes and randomly stops. The other trail takes you to a gorgeous view but just know it is very steep. You gain 900 feet in 1 mile. That trail is wide and nice but you get to a point where there are two gates, I assume from when it acted as a road. I was unsure if the trail ends there or no public access after? Or if it is public where do they go to? I would like to see them add better maps and perhaps maps along the trail at points like that. Overall I can see this being a great state park once they get the trails going. It has lots of parking available for future demand. As of now though this is not meeting my expectations for a state park but...

After the Challenge trail, the views are great and the temperature drops a little bit.

Challenge trail is pretty steep. Not the most friendly trail when it comes to your ankles with all the baseball sized rocks scattered around the trail. Someone should clean those bigger rocks up. Pretty rushed job for trail building honestly.

The internet shouldn't be a requirement in nature. Every trail head should have a distance marker on it, not just the trail name. New people to the area will be quite clueless and confused... But hey! That's half the adventure right?!

Nature did a great job here, the people that built it......

What an incredible trail system that’s set to expand over the next few years. So fun and well-built with lots of great features for riders of all levels. Smartly designed with some hiker and bike-only sections to disperse user groups. Amazing views all around, both of Fishers Peak but also the Spanish Peaks and Sangre de Cristos looking west. Easy to get to and hardly any other people. Can’t wait to come back and...

For being called a "challenge" trail it was relatively easy. It's nice that this is a newer state park that was created not long ago. The trail is an old dirt road with not a lot of switchbacks. It is slick in spots, so depending on the recent weather it may be dangerous. There were some good views of fishers peak and spanish peaks. I'd recommend this trail if you were looking for a shorter trail in the area.
