Green Mountain West Trail is a wonderful mix of terrain and views. The trail is well maintained and easy to follow. You will find everything from fairly flat sections, moderate grades to natural stone steps up steeper sections.

The views are fantastic. Some sections of the trail give great views to the north and west for a grand panorama of snow capped mountains in late May. Then you come around a corner to look east and look down on Boulder and out across the endless landscape of the plains. On a clear day you would swear you could see Kansas or Nebraska.

The parking along Flagstaff Rd can get tough to find when the trail is busy but it probably keeps trail traffic to a...

Fantastic way to spend a few hours. This is a world-class hike with amazing trails, views! Very popular. Views are both on the way up, as well as once you hit the top. Parking is along the road, so make sure to be off street. Probably 3-4 miles roundtrip. Definitely bring water and a snack, maybe even a lunch for the peak. We did it in summer, so it was hot and sunny, so be ready. Without question,...

We started at the Chautauqua trailhead and hoped to complete the loop but while descending took the wrong route and ended at west end of it, near flagstaff. The trail was full of greenery as the name suggests and with occasional icy patches. Rain and heavy wind played a bit of spoilers as well. It took 3hrs 45 mins for us...
