Grottos Day Use Area — Attraction in Four Corners States

Worth the trip- great area - bathrooms and a few picnic tables with access to the river and accessible trails. The signage is well marked, fairly forgiving despite what can feel like intimidating terrain. Took a 3 and 5 yr old who made the entire route and enjoyed every minute of it (not natural hikers) Parking is a little tight and a low sitting car...

It's a beautiful trail with the Ice Caves and the Roaring Fork River (and pools you can jump into--but it's really cold!) but it's going traffic and it's not marked very well--i suppose that encourages adventure though. Parking is a nightmare so you'll need to arrive...

My family and I are so grateful to the family that we met at the top of Independence Pass, for they told us to visit Grottos Trail to see the ice caverns and the cascades!! We had an amazing time walking on the rocks and seeing all the beauty...
