This is a small park of 25 sites, and most of the sites offer water and electric (both 30 and 50 amp) at $25 a night with a few FHU sites at $28 (add on an $8 per transaction fee for any sites booked online). The sites are paved and fairly level, though some drop off in the back (if you concerned with opening a toy hauler) and most offer quite a bit of privacy. The pull through sites are actually just pull-off to the side sites, and while they would be fine for a small trailer (particularly one without slides), a larger RV is going to block the road. There is an easily accessible dump station with both rinse and fill water, dumpsters, and the park host is very nice and helpful. The lake is beautiful and a 2.5 mile path wraps around it. There are 2 back-in sites that have the power pedestal and water on the passenger (wrong) side of the site, all the way in the back corner, and I unfortunately picked one of them when I made our reservation. We tried to balance being able to open our garage (slope grass behind our site) with reaching the power box (our power plugs in on the front driver's side), which was more challenge than we were hoping for. My only other sort-of complaint is that this park is always full on the weekends, and it's chaos.... there aren't just 2 people in a site, there is usually an entourage along with all the pets (it's just more than we're used to). That said, we liked it enough that we've already booked here again. Both T-Mobile and Verizon worked well, didn't even use the booster. UPDATE: As of 2020, they increased rates by $5 (W/E $30, FHU $33), and despite arriving during their FCFS season (October 1 -), we were asked to pay the $8 admin fee. A couple of other observations of note: The road noise seemed louder and more consistent this trip (slept with our sound machine), and many of the water spigots leak and spray water while in use (not a big deal, but also less...
Read moreThis is a great little reservoir. They do allow motor boats and there were a few people water skiing. The water was warm and the kids enjoyed swimming in the lake.
We spent 4 days in the campground. All sites have water and electricity hookups. As I walked through the campground I noticed a few sites have sewer as well. There is a dump station in the campground.
This campground isn't crammed and there is a lot of grass, which is great for kids.
Many of the back in spots were wide. Mine (Campsite 19) was wide enough to fit three cars across. This allowed me to park my 23' trailer and park two cars and and leave a huge area for the awning. You can see how much space we had and the vehicle is parked completely in the spot.
The pull through spots, however, are narrow. These are just like a pull-out on a road. I wouldn't recommend any trailer wider than 7' and no slides that go into the road because it is so narrow.
The price was also reasonable, which makes the campground even more enjoyable for me!
The main reason we love this campground is the location for access to the San Rafael.
My only complaint was that the shower house is starting to require some maintenence. One of the doors doesn't shut well and some of the shower heads don't spray well. The biggest issue was that you cannot adjust the temperature and it was on the edge of being too hot. It wasn't hot enough to burn skin, but it wasn't comfortable either. At least it wasn't cold! It was definitely too hot for my 4 and 6 year old children to tolerate well. Having said that, the showers were decent and these issues weren't bad enough to dock a star in my opinion.
Overall, I really enjoy this campground. We have stayed here multiple times and will probably...
Read moreGreat reservoir for camping at, and swimming. My family stayed here one night (July 2024) in a tent, we did a bunch of swimming in the evening and then the next morning for a few hours. I also enjoyed walking along the very extensive dam. What my kids loved about this reservoir is that there were people in boats zooming around creating waves, so most of the time when we were swimming there were small waves like a miniature version of swimming at the ocean. Also the scenery around this reservoir is really neat with dramatic steep mountains and cliffs to the west, and the San Rafael Swell in the distance to the east. Lots of grass areas and picnic tables with shade, and this reservoir we found to not be as crowded as some others we've been to in Utah. More remote location I suppose, just really small towns nearby such as Huntington and Castle Dale and Price. There's two beach areas separated by the boat launch. We walked out on a dock and saw lots of fish. Two restroom areas. Just a nice place to come and boat, fish, swim, kayak, or even just to walk around the reservoir. Campsites each have a picnic table and water. Lots of grass everywhere and trees to provide shade. The park is also dog-friendly. We saw several...
