I don’t normally write reviews. But I am compelled to leave this review as a public service to other consumers to avoid the nightmare I’ve experienced for more than a year with this company.
I’ve been doing projects with Steel Partners Lighting since 2018 and have spent tens of thousands of dollars with them. When Steel Partners was bought out by Kiva around 2021, I was originally excited that the legendary custom fabrication that Steel Partners was known for was seemingly going to live on with Kiva Lighting, which claims to be a custom lighting fabricator.
For the last 18 months or so, I’ve been in direct contact with the company CEO, Sonia Torres, working on a custom lighting package for a multi-million-dollar home in the Adirondack Mountains of NY.
I purchased many thousands of dollars worth of Steel Partners fixtures from Kiva in 2023. Many cages arrived crooked and without the necessary mounting flange that would allow secure installation of the fixtures.
To their credit, Kiva promised to re-fabricate the fixtures per my design recommendations. But it literally took 9 months to get all the fixtures back and only after many dozens of texts and voicemails that were routinely ignored more MONTHS on end. But I did eventually get the replacements, and they were far better.
In late 2023, I was forced to place an add-on order for approximately 1 dozen custom fixtures needed for an addition — wanting to coordinate the lighting for the addition with the main house built a few years earlier.
I have been jerked around for well over a year after having been promised on dozens of occasions that the custom CAD drawings were forthcoming so I could finalize the design and place the actual order needed to compete the project. I still don’t have anything I need.
Sadly, this company is horrifically mismanaged. They are an absolutely embarrassment to the greatness the name Steel Partners once represented.

Read moreWe ordered a hugger ceiling fan/light combo. It came in about 6 weeks after we ordered it. We were very impressed with the beautiful artistry of the piece we ordered. After about 2 weeks of using the fan non stop I used the pull switch to shut it off. I thought it probably needed a break. The next day I went to turn the fan back on and it wouldn't turn on. I wasn't sure what was going on. My husband looked into it and thought it was the switch. I contacted Kiva lighting and they consulted with their electrician and came to the same conclusion as my husband. 2 days later, a new switch assembly was delivered via UPS to my front door, my husband switched out the switch assembly with ease and my beautiful fan is working again nicely. The ease and pleasantness of the staff at Kiva lighting was such a nice contrast to most of the people in business you deal with today. I was so impressed by the whole process and was not stressed about anything at all. The motor & parts have a lifetime warranty that this company will stand behind. Read moreWe ordered a ceiling fan from them in June. After waiting a month and hearing nothing, we called and sent emails. No response. Finally, someone sent a response weeks later that the fan was being fabricated and should be sent out the following week. Waited another six weeks. Nothing. No calls or emails either. Finally after numerous calls and emails, they said they didn't have the fan and didn't have the materials to make and that they might be able to make it sometime next year. After again trying to call and communicate unsuccessfully, I had to turn this purchase over to my credit card for a refund. It took Visa another four months to actually complete the claim to refund this purchase. Apparently they could not reach anyone at this company either. Worst customer service and communication ever.
