So many nice hikes from here. Ore Bucket is a favorite to get to the aspen meadows. A bit further and you are along beaver ponds. The short hike to the waterfall is steep in some spots, but it is worth it every season of the year. Bring spikes in winter so the ice is not an issue, or you can bring those spikes to scramble down from the main trail - That’s what we did today. Very good workout, and got us to the top of the falls without wading up from below. Normally it is not that much water coming through. Shortest hike is less than a mile. Typical hikes beyond Inspiration Point (over looks the canyon mouth and Palmer Lake) are 2-12 miles and can include Mt Herman or Chautauqua or many other destinations. Happy trails!

Wow, what a gorgeous view from up above... a very well groomed hiking experience... and another area not ruined by human interaction, not littered with traces of human existence... its like having a tiny Pennsylvania in Colorado... it almost is like a picture... for the hike up where the water is raging right now, pretty easy and not a long journey, was sad about that... but then we went the other way and it is pretty easy, as well... just watch the altitude for the ones with breathing problems... what a cute neighborhood

There are two paths to take, one to the top and one to the waterfall. Both are magical! The path to the top is of moderate difficulty in places, but my 4 & 8 year old made it. The trail to the waterfall was wide and easy. Rated four stars because there is very limited parking and nobody picks up after their dogs. Poop is everywhere on both trails.

Historically this was known as the "Old Stage Coach Trail". Early in history of the area, the Daniels and Fisher Company (of the old May D&F stores--see Daniels & Fishers tower in downtown Denver) had a summer camp for their employees. Hiking this in the 1950's you would find old buildings in the meadows above the beaver dams, which still remained from that time. At that place was another road/trail which lead around the backside of Mt. Chataqua to both reservoirs of the Palmer Lake water supply. The total trail was called the...

Great trail. Cuts 3 miles off (rt) by not having to start at the base of Mt Herman. Downside is that residents are complaining and the PLPD will start issuing citations for parking. Received a warning 2 days ago for “Illegal Parking” with a note stating “No Forest Access.” I spoke to one of the officers (very nice guy) and was told that about the complaints and that no parking signs were being made. If you enjoy access to YOUR national forest, I highly recommend attending Palmer Lake City Council meetings to voice...
