Wanted to show the kids the spot I proposed to my wife, but there are no parking signs all along the river. Drove down the road a bit to where there weren't any signs and headed back to our spot. There were be no trespassing signs up now but the path down to the river was still there so we told the kids they could get their toes in the water. Well someone else did park in the no parking zone and the sheriff came out and called the park ranger to give us a ticket. He proceeded to tell us how everyone goes and leaves litter and graffiti all over. He kept me and my kids there on the hot asphalt waiting for someone with jurisdiction to ticket us. All of the money that we pour into the lottery that is supposed to go towards parks and recreation is allocated into closing roads and public lands so they can...

Very outstanding! I come here for my grandma’s birthday sometimes. Lots of open space and some good nature. One complaint is that sometimes people let their children ride unattended through the parking lot on a bicycle at dusk while cars are backing out. It is more a fault of the negligent parents than the park, but be careful when you come here. They have a hiking trail and some picnic tables to eat your food at. Very convenient. The other complaint is that sometimes you can smell the stinky truck’s brakes coming down from...

We love this hike... it is close enough to where we live (Sloans Lake) but still far enough away to feel out of the city. It is just hard enough that our kids can get some exercise but not too tough they don't want to do it.

We call it the "Rock Hike" because of the large rock on the trail they like to stop at and climb. Parking can be a little tough on the weekend clear days but we have always gotten lucky and were able to park at the trailhead lot.

Overall it is a great, moderately tough, hike that is good for people...

Tons of great hikes in this area, very close to town easy to get to from just about anywhere. There are clean restrooms at the main trailhead, and all the trails are well marked and easy to follow. If you are looking for some amazing views of Red Rocks and a change to make a great loop I would recommend taking the Red Rocks trail and the Dakota Ridge trail to make one large loop. I would definitely recommend this area to new hikers. Lots of great views everywhere you look and most of the trails can be hikes all year long.

Good place to hike near Denver. A variety of trail options as to length and challenge level. Views of Red Rocks from trails on the south side are beautiful and good ones of Denver from trails at the top. Higher trails are a bit rockier and can be a challenge after snow…watch out for ice. Watch out for rattlers on hot days. It gets crowded during summer season and on the weekends so hike there during the week and off season for the least amount of hassle when parking. Overall a good place to run, walk or hike.
