Wanted to show the kids the spot I proposed to my wife, but there are no parking signs all along the river. Drove down the road a bit to where there weren't any signs and headed back to our spot. There were be no trespassing signs up now but the path down to the river was still there so we told the kids they could get their toes in the water. Well someone else did park in the no parking zone and the sheriff came out and called the park ranger to give us a ticket. He proceeded to tell us how everyone goes and leaves litter and graffiti all over. He kept me and my kids there on the hot asphalt waiting for someone with jurisdiction to ticket us. One complaint is that sometimes people let their children ride unattended through the parking lot on a bicycle at dusk while cars are backing out. It is more a fault of the negligent parents than the park, but be careful when you come here. They have a hiking trail and some picnic tables to eat your food at. Very convenient. Read moreWe love this hike... it is close enough to where we live (Sloans Lake) but still far enough away to feel out of the city. It is just hard enough that our kids can get some exercise but not too tough they don't want to do it.
We call it the "Rock Hike" because of the large rock on the trail they like to stop at and climb. Parking can be a little tough on the weekend clear days but we have always gotten lucky and were able to park at the trailhead lot.
Overall it is a great, moderately tough, hike that is good for people...
