Great experience.

The wife and I wanted to go to Moab, but the prices of hotels in the spring are pretty pricey. About 12 years ago, I had stayed at this KOA with a scout group and it was a fun place for 17 year olds. After some talking, reading some reviews, and looking at pictures, we booked our stay.

CHECKING IN- The check in process was super smooth. We arrived at 9:30pm, picked up our paperwork outside on a bulletin board, and then drove to our spot using the provided map. All needed info was in the provided paper we picked up.

CAMPING SPOT- Our spot was perfect for our truck, double ATV trailer, and tent (more than one tent could have fit). We stayed in a tent campsite and payed $10 to have the trailer at our spot. Plenty of room to back the trailer in. The area was clean and included a picnic table under a canopy. We were about 15 ft away from each neighbor. We thought a fire pit was at each camp spot but that wasn’t the case. A fire pit could be rented for a small fee.

SHOWERS AND BATHROOMS- Hot showers were so nice after a long ride on the ATVs. Pretty clean, but still bring sandals. Never had to wait in line to use the bathrooms or showers. Plenty for all.

POOL AND HOT TUB- These have been upgraded since 2008. Pool is super nice but the water was a bit chilly, and the hot tub’s heater wasn’t working. We were told by employees that a new heater was getting installed the following weekend. This probably was the biggest letdown, but we are glad they had the hot showers. The cold pool didn’t stop kids from jumping and having fun, but many adults sat in chairs or near the gas fire pits and talked.

QUIET TIME- QT was at 10pm and everyone was courteous of winding things down at this time. The highway could be faintly heard while laying in the tent, but we were so worn out that it didn’t bother us.

The KOA was well kept, lots of things do if you are just hanging out there (yard games for families, pool, hot tub) and had showers and bathrooms with water. Beats camping elsewhere any day. Staying at the KOA for three days was still cheaper than any hotel room in Moab.

The Moab KOA treated us very well, and we are already planning to stay there again...

My first interaction with the staff at this KOA was over the phone after having booked our stay for the wrong dates. I explained to them that I needed to changes the dates but they said I would have to pay a cancellation fee even tho the dates were over a month out… so I paid it

Upon arrival, the staff wasn’t overly friendly. Our first night here Moab had a flash flood, nothing that anyone could control. Unfortunately our tent sight was at the bottom of the hill, we ended up with 4 inches of standing water under our tent, with nowhere for it to go. I went up to the office mid storm and explained the situation. I was told “you can move your tent to another site” really? In the middle of this rainstorm? No thank you. I asked about their cabins, they said absolutely, but it’s more than double your tent site so you’ll have to pay the difference… I asked the girl if they could comp us anything because of the water building up under our site and only our site. The irrigation issue is on the campground, nobody can control the weather… her response was “I’m just a minimum wage employee, I couldn’t even comp myself anything if I wanted to” Wow… So, I asked her “do you have a shovel I can use? We can dig a trench to clear the water” she radioed the maintenance guy and asked if they had a shovel that they could rent me!!!! What?!?!

The maintenance guy Jeff(who was probably the only nice employee we interacted with) brought us a shove so at 9pm my girlfriend and I started digging a trench. We cleared out the water but our tent, tarps and equipment were covered in mud and sand. The next day, I went back to the front desk and spoke with another girl, I explained the situation to her, we upgraded to a cabin(paid the difference) and asked about any sort of compensation. She said she would have the manager contact us.

I have heard nothing from management and quite frankly doubt they ever let the manager know anything.

The customer service here is absolutely awful. Aside from that, this is a very nice campground. The only way I would consider coming back was if they had a turnover of front desk staff or some heavy training on...

I have stayed in numerous KOA campgrounds across the country and always had good experiences. I decided the Moab KOA was a safe bet, and we made our reservations online 9 months in advance. When making reservations I entered the total length of my truck and camper, and reserved a site that was advertised to fit it. Upon arrival, Rhonda at the front desk was rude, and less than helpful, leaving me a bit taken back.. I was then led to my campsite which barely would fit my truck, much less my trailer. I told the camp host that the site I reserved was supposed to fit my truck and 20' pull behind. I asked for another site that would fit my setup. I was told there were no open sites by 2 different campground employees. I then talked to a third employee who said there was an open site and moved me to that spot. Rhonda became aware of the move and told me that I needed to move, and that the spot I moved to was reserved. I explained that it had already been approved by another employee and I was not moving. Rhonda then stated she would be charging me extra for the move. I explained the site that I moved to was the size I payed for and reserved so there should be no extra charge.. We stayed at the KOA for 8 days and all 8 days the 2 campsites beside us the same size were empty. The campground employees flat out lied about everything. This campground is all about charging fees: want to have a fire at your campsite it's $25 if your coming to offroad you will be paying extra for each offroad vehicle you bring. The pool area and hot tub close at 9 so if you wanted to relax in the hot tub after a full day of wheeling and a nice meal forget it. The bathrooms and showers were very dirty and poorly maintained. Maybe the staff should spend more time cleaning and less time looking for a way to pinch more money out of the customers.. All of the other 15 people in our group had similar experiences with poor customer service and lies. we will not be back. I would recommend looking into a...

I am no stranger to KOAs and I heard great things about this specific KOA so we were excited to try it out while planning our park trips. We paid a cabin site reserve to be AWAY from the noisy highway for obvious sleep purposes. Things were great and staff was friendly until we realized the fridge was not working and our food was bad. We called the office like any normal person would do and they sent a guy to “look at“ the fridge and that’s all they did.. was look at it and I repeat said “well I don’t know what you want me to do” like maybe fix it???? They were clueless and extremely rude on the matter. They finally offered us another cabin… Okay cool. They of course only had the one right on the highway!… which was not clean btw. Of course I didn’t sleep. I’m extremely annoyed with the lack of customer service for the price we paid. They were rude and acting like they didn’t need to DO anything. My husband was finally able to get a refund or credit on the spoiled food so I will say we finally got the issue resolved but I would have much rather they let us keep the original cabin and offered to fix the fridge but no. The staff and manager treating us the way they did has left a bitter taste from acting like my paid KOA rewards makes up for damage to the food and then acting like the fridge was never broken is ridiculous and offensive ESPECIALLY when they had a guy confirm it was broken. We are honest people and literally never complain! I’m annoyed we are stuck here for the remainder of our stay in a crap location, we won’t be coming back and we won’t be referring anyone. Stay at a nice hotel and skip this place. (Picture is from the bedroom window)

(Updated review) After finishing the Arches trail and returning to the campground, the office staff told us they had fixed the jacuzzi, which had been out of order earlier in the day. After dinner, a little past 9 PM, we went to use the jacuzzi before showering—only to find the pool area completely locked. Other families also came around the same time hoping to use the jacuzzi, but had to leave disappointed. Isn’t keeping promises to customers the foundation of trust? Are guests nothing more than a source of profit, while you run the facilities purely for your own convenience? Going forward, please change your notice at check-in: instead of saying the pool closes at 10 PM, be honest and say it closes whenever the staff feel like it. Because that’s what actually happens. ------------- This was my second visit in seven years. Back then, we stayed in a cabin—this time, we used an RV site. This is one of the busiest KOAs in the U.S. year-round, thanks to the many trails and attractions nearby, like Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, which everyone wants to visit at least once. The downside is that it’s always crowded. The sites are tightly packed, and some guests arrive late at night with sound Jeeps or motorcycles. Even though it was the first week of May, the pool was unfortunately not heated, and the hot tub was out of order for the entire stay. In Moab, where red sand constantly swirls around you and fills your sandals, you might find that giving up a hot shower or limiting electricity for a day or two opens up many alternative national park campgrounds and smaller sites. For my third visit to Moab, I think I’ll choose a different place.
