Mount Olympus has been on the top of my bucket list for a while. ⛰🥾✨I’ve done other previous hikes to try to prepare for the ~8 miles hike with 4,200 ft elevation gain. I’m glad I did! We started at 8 am in the morning and the incline started from the first mile. Starting early meant shade cover for the first few hours.

The last mile to the saddle was the toughest for me, my legs were on fire but I pushed through and took plenty of breaks. We made it to the saddle where we sat for a bit and enjoyed the stunning views. We went back and forth if we would summit and landed on going to the top. It was worth the extra climb as we sat up high taking in the 360 view of the mountains and the city.

Going back down was a different story and having hiking poles for extra stability made a big difference. The sun hit us hard the last couple hours. Luckily we bought plenty of water, filling our backpacks and having a couple water bottles on the side. After 8ish hours of hiking, relaxing, and savoring, we made it back down the trail. We celebrated our adventurous hike with some delicious Greek food...

Don't listen to the other hikers coming down the mountain. They all tell you you're almost there, and 4 hours later you've pulled off your brand new cowboy boots that you knew were a terrible idea to hike in, because your feet are covered in blisters, and you're maneuvering your way over giant boulders and small patches of snow in your soaking wet socks, asking God why mountains are so tall as the sunlight continues to disappear and you wonder if your boss will send a rescue party after you when you don't show up to work tomorrow- but you're replaceable and he's afraid of heights, so you'll just die alone...

The view was totally worth it.

Take some water with you if you're new to this hiking thing, and don't do it in cowboy boots, with a barely charged phone and...

If you want a fairly difficult challenge, try this awesome trail to the summit of Mount Olympus! I am not in perfect shape, so it was tough but rewarding. 😅 It took me a little under three hours to reach the summit, and probably about two hours to return to the trailhead. Along the way, you will get some great views of the Salt Lake Valley and the surrounding mountains. The first two miles are moderately hard, and then things get quite hard as you approach a saddle and the final ascent to the summit. There is a rocky scramble to the peak, so be prepared to clamber up some steep rocky slopes. Once you are at the top, relax for a minute and take in the marvelous view. Remember: Bring sufficient water! This is Utah, so you will...

If you love hiking, and you wanna take on some epic views of Salt Lake Valley, without hiking the taller peaks to the south, look no further than Mt. Olympus! The hike is a 7 mile trek straight up the mountain, with switchbacks, river crossings (in the right season), a rock scramble near the top, with over 4,000ft of elevation gain! Not for the faint of heart. However, if you choose to take on this amazing hike, you'll be rewarded with incredible views of not just the valley below, but the incredible cottonwood ridge to the south, and the surrounding mountains! Definitely worth the trek to the summit at least once!
