Mount Olympus has been on the top of my bucket list for a while. ⛰🥾✨I’ve done other previous hikes to try to prepare for the ~8 miles hike with 4,200 ft elevation gain. I’m glad I did! We started at 8 am in the morning and the incline started from the first mile. Starting early meant shade cover for the first few hours.
The last mile to the saddle was the toughest for me, my legs were on fire but I pushed through and took plenty of breaks. We made it to the saddle where we sat for a bit and enjoyed the stunning views. We went back and forth if we would summit and landed on going to the top. It was worth the extra climb as we sat up high taking in the 360 view of the mountains and the city.
Going back down was a different story and having hiking poles for extra stability made a big difference. The sun hit us hard the last couple hours. Luckily we bought plenty of water, filling our backpacks and having a couple water bottles on the side. After 8ish hours of hiking, relaxing, and savoring, we made it back down the trail. We celebrated our adventurous hike with some delicious Greek food...

The view was totally worth it.
Take some water with you if you're new to this hiking thing, and don't do it in cowboy boots, with a barely charged phone and...
Read moreIf you want a fairly difficult challenge, try this awesome trail to the summit of Mount Olympus! I am not in perfect shape, so it was tough but rewarding. 😅 It took me a little under three hours to reach the summit, and probably about two hours to return to the trailhead. Along the way, you will get some great views of the Salt Lake Valley and the surrounding mountains. The first two miles are moderately hard, and then things get quite hard as you approach a saddle and the final ascent to the summit. There is a rocky scramble to the peak, so be prepared to clamber up some steep rocky slopes. Once you are at the top, relax for a minute and take in the marvelous view. Remember: Bring sufficient water! This is Utah, so you will...
