We stayed 2 nights at the Pine-Juniper Campground on the NM side of Navajo Dam. This was our first time here so we didn’t know what to expect. The site (site 146) we had was okay & had a view of the lake. Near a restroom & dumpster. The tent pad was big enough to fit an 8 person tent. We had some shading for the tent from trees. Although, I highly recommend a canopy for during the day. There is not enough shade from trees elsewhere. These campsites are extremely rocky so don’t forget a tarp to put under your tent. There were tons of black ants at this campground so keep your coolers up high. We brought a can of raid just in case so we sprayed around our tent area and picnic table. No showers, vault toilets only. Staff cleaned restrooms daily. Not sure if it’s posted anywhere but campsites on Pine-Cedar area definitely need a truck or suv type to get to most campsites. Extremely rocky bumpy road there. Overall, the lake is nice but definitely a hike to get to unless...
Read moreThe State of NM needs to check into the management of this park. We just spent 4 days (5/24/2023-5/27/2023) at the Pine Main campground and it was quite apparent that the money campers pay to stay at Navajo State Park in New Mexico is not being used to maintain the park. The weeds (goat head stickers, switch grass, & fox burrs) are out of control and the garbage bins at the boat ramp were already overflowing and Memorial weekend hadn't even started yet. I'm not sure who is managing this state park, but the governing bodies, park rangers, and camp hosts need to be reviewed and corrected. This review is not a reflection of the Navajo Lake Main Marina which is a separate entity and is not associated with the state park nor is it a reflection of the lake itself. The boating, fishing, and and overall outdoor experience is amazing as long as you don't hang out at...
Read moreThis is a beautiful State Park. Registration and reservations ahead highly recommended. In the upper main Park at Dam lake area you can rent house boats, fishing is also available with a license. License can be purchased for week ,season or dau use. Very reasonable price $ 28.00 for out of state 5 days. Really enjoyed this campground gravel packed sites. I'd only recommend 40 ft or smaller rigs ,ours is 40 ft and we stayed at Cottonwood campground sites. We could pull into pull-thru but had to back out of site. The main State Park sites areas were way to small area for our comfort. Make sure you have Water in your takes, dump before you arrive, dump after on way out. Forgot a grocery item the little store next to Sportman bar has essential food items, the Sportman bar makes a great burger. You can buy your fishing license with CASH at the Fish and...
