Purchase Dam State Park is a beautiful park. I gave it two stars for two reasons. The first reason is that no one picks up the sights. There's bottle caps plastic trash in all the sights. They used to rake the electric sights, but when they raised the prices of the parks, they decided that they didn't want to rake the sites anymore. The fact that they raise the rates 200% is a big turn-off. The price went from $4 a day for an electric site if you have an annual pass to 15 dollars a day if you have the pass. It was $180 for out-of-staters to get an annual pass. They've raised that to 600.00. That equals $50 a month for the out-of-staters, just to have an annual pass. That pays for their $20 a day entrance fee to stay on the beach with no restrooms in sight. The price seems a little ridiculous. It would help if they kept the sights clean and cut down some of the trees that fall on the vehicles when the wind storms come. By the way, if you happen to get hit with a tree, they'll tell you it's an act of God, and they...

I booked a reservation at Percha Dam State Park during Thanksgiving 2024, and it was an absolute nightmare. The park is infested with flies—thousands of them. Any hope of enjoying a peaceful camping trip was completely destroyed.
We had to throw away hundreds of dollars’ worth of Thanksgiving food because it was swarmed by flies. Seeing my grandmother in tears over our ruined meal was heartbreaking. When I spoke to a ranger and the park host, they admitted the fly infestation was out of control but offered no solutions or assistance.
The Park Manager has completely failed to maintain a clean, safe environment. This park should not be open until the fly problem is fully addressed. Visitors book in good faith, expecting a fun and relaxing experience, but instead are met with frustration, disappointment, and ruined holidays.
To make matters worse, we left early and inadvertently brought hundreds of flies with us inside our RV. Thanks for nothing, Percha Dam State...
Read moreThis place isn’t it. The only good thing is the price for electric and water sites, and they had availability. while I followed google to get here there was still an opportunity for a wrong turn and confusion. The trail in is a bit rough and you cross a sketchy one lane bridge. It doesn’t seem like a state park at all. I also dislike that all the sites are pull through. It’s extremely weird of a set up, a lot with pull through but you have to navigate around the plug in, without extra space. It’s all dirt. Fairly well levelled considering. No privacy from others, you’re all lined up. There is some shade. Nice picnic table areas. The check in visitors centre seems like a storage container or temporary set up. The signage was a bit hard to follow as well. Not any nice scenery. I didn’t even bother checking the Dam. No hiking trails outside a trail to go fishing. It did the trick for the night that I needed it too. And ouff- no dump...
