Really neat archeological site a short drive from Los Alamos. The initial part of the trail and experience is mostly mild with a couple short sections of moderate difficulty. Should be accessible to most. The last part of the trail is optional and requires you to climb several quite tall ladders and navigate some challenging terrain. Was crowded. Not recommended for younger children, people with fear of heights, or people in poor physical condition. The significant vertical ascent via long ladders and stairs will tax your legs and cardiovascular system. Make sure you will have the energy to get down...

Enjoyed this immersive location to climb into former pueblos, see an entire town, and the petroglyphs was astounding on this trail. It is mainly accessible for all to enjoy and the ability to climb ladders, sit and explore some pueblos, see a recreated Pueblo, and preservation of found art. It is a short trail but can take a long time because of the enjoyment of the area. Use the guided trail app to read at each number to learn what the areas were used for. Such a fascinating...

We enjoyed hiking to the Pueblo and Alcove House ruins in mid-May 2024, so it was not too hot. The approximately 3-mile loop trail is in good condition, with handrails and narrow passages, making for a fun adventure. We took about 3 hours for the hike, taking our time to view the abundance of interesting Ancestral Puebloan archaeological sites along the way. There are several opportunities to climb stairs and ladders for a closer look...

๐Ÿ˜ฑ Would you visit this incredible National Monument? Vote in the poll! ๐Ÿœ๏ธ Bandelier National Monument, located in northern New Mexico, is a blend of natural beauty and ancient history. This 33,000-acre preserve is known for its stunning mesas, sheer canyons, and vibrant wildlife. However, what truly sets Bandelier apart are the well-preserved remnants of Ancestral Puebloan settlements that date back over 11,000 years. Visitors can explore cliff dwellings, kivas, and petroglyphs, offering a glimpse into the lives of the areaโ€™s earliest inhabitants. The trail shown in the video is Pueblo Loop, plus the Alcove House trail. It should be noted that anyone attempting to climb the Alcove House ladders should be in good shape and not afraid of heights!
